Don't know if these series have been shown on Rewind before, but in the new issue of the listings magazine I spotted that starting a week on Thursday (1st May) are Please Sir!, Carry On Laughing and The Cuckoo Waltz:
Thursday 1st May: 8 pm - 8.50 pm: Please Sir! 9 pm - 9.30 pm: Carry On Laughing 9.30 pm - 10 pm: The Cuckoo Waltz. The above is the same for a week on Friday (2nd May). On a separate note, Soap has disappeared from the channel's listings for Saturday 28th April to Friday 2nd May. Source: TV & Satellite Week (Saturday 26th April to Friday 2nd May, 2025). Looks like Rewind will be showing again the episodes of Soap that they aired several weeks ago, based on the listings (starting again next Wednesday night (28th May) at 9.30 pm - 10 pm). Have set the first episode to record.
Was quite surprised when after contacting Via Vision last month to ask about the availability of their DVD release of Soap: The Complete Series (it stated "out of stock"), they replied saying it had already sold out (at the time it had only been a week since the DVD set had been released). I had also asked them if the hour-long specials would be included (in previous DVD releases they were split into half-hour versions), and was told the hour-long specials would not be included. |

Rewind recently posted on their Facebook page that starting on the channel in July is another documentary series that Jack Hargreaves presented called Old Country (have done a web search and it originally aired on Channel 4 after Out of Town ended when Southern Television closed). Starts on Sunday 20th July at 4.30 pm.

Couple of new posts by Rewind on their Facebook page this week which are interesting:
1.) A new series in the works that you may be interested in DTSBOY as it will be about British motoring history. It will be shown later in the summer. 2.) A post called "Should classic TV be censored?" |

Have checked the Sky TV listings and Rewind will be showing the first series of Joker's Wild. Hopefully, they'll show the third series, but based on other shows they've been airing, Rewind are probably waiting to see how it will do in the ratings (eg: Diff'rent Strokes, Police Woman and Soap). |

![]() Forgot the name but there is a railways-based TV series Rewind have showing that I wanted to check out. Out of Town on Talking Pictures has been a good watch (it ends on Sunday 13th July, but Rewind will start showing the Sunday after another Jack Hargreaves series called Old Country). One of the segments I especially liked recently (about charcoal making). It can be a good show to have on in the background (and that's not a criticism). I think there might have been some censorship with The Dukes of Hazzard as well. It was a shame that Forces TV ended as they showed some Warner Brothers series. Who knows if Midnight Caller will eventually get a DVD and/or Blu-ray release (a lot of music was played in it). |

After checking the listings earlier this week to find out the name of this railway-themed programme, it's called Tracing the Rails. I started watching it, but found the camerawork and framing of the screen a bit jarring (like Talking Pictures, Rewind seem to broadcast only in standard definition). I turned it off after a few minutes.

First of all, forgot to post last week that I very much enjoyed the Sir Michael Aspel interview programme first shown on Rewind the Saturday before last. Sounds like Strange But True? came to an end because someone wanted to take the show to the US but not with Aspel as the host.
Onto yesterday afternoon's first edition of Old Country. I'm going to be virtually positive about this, unlike a bunch of trolls on Rewind's Facebook page. The one bit where the end credits were partly obscured along the bottom of the screen during some of the end credits aside, you wouldn't have thought this documentary series presented by Jack Hargreaves was being shown on another channel. I could be cynical and question why Rewind chose to start showing Old Country a week after Talking Pictures finished showing Out of Town (the editions made for the eighties video market) and in the exact same timeslot). The year this edition shown yesterday afternoon was the year after Out of Town ended. I enjoyed watching it and that's it really. |

Spotted this past Sunday night that there will be a timeslot change for Old Country on Rewind next Sunday afternoon (3rd August). It's moving back half an hour to 4 pm - 4.30 pm.
Secondly, Rewind recently started showing again Dark Skies. Hopefully, they'll show the last episode this time (episode 19 "Bloodlines"). |

That banner along the bottom of the screen at the beginning of the end credits is still annoying. At the beginning of both parts of each edition is a disclaimer about possible language etc. (Talking Pictures would put a disclaimer before an edition of Out of Town started (if there was anything in the edition that would cause offence, compared to Rewind who are putting it before every edition of Old Country they've shown so far). |
