Australia Jackie Brown 4K UHD (1997) Imprint

Quote:
Booh-yah! Quentin Tarantino’s homage to 70s blaxploitation JACKIE BROWN (1997) explodes into the Imprint Films library on 4K UHD and Blu-ray, presented in a 2-Disc Limited Edition Hardbox.

Starring Pam Grier alongside a juggernaut ensemble cast with Samuel L. Jackson, Robert Forster, Bridget Fonda, Michael Keaton and Robert De Niro, Tarantino’s superb crime screenplay captivated critics, wishing the “characters [could] live, talk, deceive and scheme for hours and hours.” (RogerEbert)

This stone-cold, stylish thriller follows six players on the trail of half a million dollars cash: a sexy stewardess, a street-tough gun runner, a lonely bail bondsman, a shifty ex-con, an earnest federal agent, and a stoned-out beach bunny.

We’re putting a cherry on top of this release with a heap of Special Features and an exclusive hardback booklet, which features a brand NEW essay by film critic Bilge Ebiri. 1500 copies only. Pre-orders are now live.

Why pay import prices when you can pay double locally.

Doesn't look like it. Via Vision's product information has been pretty explicit in calling out "Authoring by Fidelity in Motion" where relevant and that's not mentioned anywhere for this title.

And in the product image, the UHD disc even looks identical to the Lionsgate disc, logos, markings and all.

I've still not bought the UK 4K but not interested here either. If there was some lenticular love I may have been tempted.

I must have 10 releases of this on Blu-ray and DVD so will wait until it's £15.00 somewhere.

I honestly think this edition is severally overpriced.

Did a 1 case release need and a way overpriced hardbox from Imprint…
I like some of their hardboxes but it’s one film the discs would be in 1 case and yet they are shilling this out in a most expensive way.

A standard case with a cool slipbox is all it needed.

(assuming the disc will be basically same as the US/UK release seems very overpriced.)

That’s not true, you might be thinking of Umbrella who have been listing their authoring house every time it’s FIM. But Imprint only sometimes mentions it explicitly. For example, FIM are doing all four of their November releases, but only Battle of Britain mentions them in the listing at all.

I was thinking, you know how Fidelity In Motion re-tweet posts, (David M's way of confirming they are handling the encodes) since many of us have abandoned social media.

It would be nice if David M could would Pretty Please click the Thanks thumbs up on the OG post for any thread of a titles that he has worked on. (going forward or recent releases.

It would be a nice surprise to spot Thanks given on the on the OG posts!

Oh yeah, you're right! In which case, I'll await the FiM re-tweet or notice its conspicuous absence.

But anyway, assuming the disc artwork is correct, it looks to be the Lionsgate disc. The other November releases are all unique artwork for the 4K discs (3 of the films being worldwide premieres anyway, with only Jade being released elsewhere in 4K).

Do we assume the Imprint will have better encoding than the US Lionsgate disc even tho FIM probably ain't doing it?

If FiM isn't doing it it's likely going to be the same Lionsgate disc.

Every Imprint edition is severely overpriced.

Zero reason to expect that.

4K disc is a port of the Lionsgate, BD appears to be newly authored with the 4K restoration as a source. Would love for someone that actually ends up buying this to confirm regarding the BD.
