I heard The Cobbler was one of the most poorly reviewed films when it premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival this fall, so I'll wait for Bluray, maybe

I was kinda looking forward to seeing this until I heard some of the poor reviews and saw the trailer....so disappointing.

I'm actually surprised this isn't some Jack and Jill-esque "typical Adam Sandler" comedy, since the premise sounds like one. Adam Sandler and magic shoes that let him turn into other people.

Shame about the bad reviews because from the trailer this looks like the material I like seeing Sandler in.

It is not. Image is distributing (the plans are to run it in about 200 theatres with a VOD release day-and-date).

Adam Sandler isn't even trying anymore. He really has just been doing it for the money the last 10 years or so. Screw him.

Reign Over Me, Men, Women, and Children, Funny People, and Spanglish all disagree with you. His comedies have gone down hill, yes, but when he goes for the dramatic work, he has been very good in them. The movies may not be perfect, but he has some great dramatic chops, he just needs to utilize them more...

I quite liked Spanglish. Funny People was actually a dull and somewhat depressing movie to me, but at least Sandler tried a different type of character for once.

You missed the bigger point of my post. Whether you liked the movies, Sandler clearly showed that he had dramatic range, and showed that he does try. His comedy has gone down hill, but he can actually act, and I wish he'd do more movies like that where he does use his skills. Even Click, maybe his last good comedy, showed he had some dramatic range. He doesn't phone everything in, but he knows the easy paychecks are there. But if he could make more money turning out good dramatic performances, he would probably do them more frequently.

Damn, Sandler has really fallen. Image Entertainment, of all companies, is distributing this. He's like one step away from DTV.
