Default Resident Evil 5 a PS3 exclusive?

There are many Japanese sites reporting just that. This would be a huge get, as this is a large franchise with dedicated fanbase. I would fall just short os AAA or system seller title, but still a top game and big series both in Japan and America.

This is on the heels of Silent Hill 5 exclusive news.. Nothing confirmed of permananet yet, but it has legs...

Links?

I really don't care if it's exclusive or not, but the inclusion of RE:5 was one of the things that put me over the edge to buying the PS3. Unless something has happened lately, RE:5 was originally going to be an xbox 360 exclusive IIRC, then moved to multi platform.

You know how Capcom is when it come to exclusives.

They rarely stay exclusive.

This was announced for both formats... but if this does turn out to be exclusive to the PS3 - good! Why should a superior machine be hampered with a port from an inferior one (which is what they would have to do as they would have to design a build that works for both formats)?

Rock on - hope it's true...

This is true... but it's exclusive at least for a window of time... like RE4 on the Gamecube (the reason I bought GC was for the RE series!). And even if it was just a window of time, that would be enough to help sell a lot more PS3consoles.

If they want to reach anywhere near the quality they showed in their target render trailer, they'll have to at least go time exclusive like RE4.

Not holding my breath on a rumor though.

Can someone point me to a Japanese site that was referring to this news / rumor? Curious what the initial story was.

RE5 was announced as both 360 and PS3 IIRC, there were rumors both companies were trying to get it exclusive but that hasn't happened yet.

In any even, it looks like this might be a few days old rumor since it looks like there is a confirmation of multi-platform on Capcom's Japanese site from 5/31.

We shall see...

Personally, I think they're a bunch of idiots. The psxtreme article that someone posted said that Konami plans to make Silent Hill 5 exclusive IF console sales increase. The reason console sales aren't increasing at an astounding rate is because of the lack of exclusives available. If Silent Hill 5 stays exclusive, it will sell alot of consoles, and that goes tenfold for Resident Evil 5. Were that to be an exclusive, it could be a potential monster hit and major system seller. Their decision to go multi-platform would just diminish their PS3 sales in favor of 360 sales.

I think they should just stay PS3 exclusive and build immense hype surrounding the game and I BET they'd get a nice little bonus from Sony.

Capcom is not going to make this exclusive to the PS3...

If Capcom was going to make any game exclusive to the PS3, they would have made Devil May Cry 4, a game which has never seen an iteration of itself on anything without a Sony in its name, the one to remain true to the system...

Making games this generation is costing MILLIONS and MILLIONS of dollars. Capcom can not hope to regain that capital back and see a surplus on a machine that has only sold worldwide something like two million units...

The best that anyone who wants this to be exclusive can hope for is that its..

1) Developed for the PS3 first, and then ported to 360.
2) Its a timed exclusive....

Personally, I would rather have it be the first option, because Capcom makes the timed exclusives always a wash for the system before it....

The dreamcast had Code Veronica, then six months later the PS2 had it as Code Veronica X and it had a ton of new stuff in it...

The gamecube got RE4, and then six months later PS2 got RE4 with a ton of more stuff in it....

I think its coming out on PS3 and Xbox as timed exclusives and then Wii is getting a super edition. To make up for the graphical decrease.

Okay, sorry, wrong number, but my point still stands....

Is capcom going to make more money only selling it to potentially 3.5 million people??

Or, is Capcom going to make money if they are selling it to potentially 14 million people?? (360 and PS3 combined)
