Default NCAA 09 Reviews

I was wondering what people have read about the quality of NCAA Football 09 for PS3. I've heard it's supposed to be as good for PS3 as Xbox 360 this year, and if that's the case I'll pick it up for the PS3. Are there any reviews out there yet that compares the 2 versions?

For this year, as long as it's equal is all I ask.

I just picked this game up today. Is there no turbo/sprint button in this game? It's been a while since I played a NCAA game.

I haven't played the game yet but I guarantee there is a sprint/turbo button.

You got the game a week ahead of street date? How?

I thought the demo on the PS3 was very promising. I saw a lot of color and the 60 frames per second felt fast, smooth, and crisp.

I'm anticipating fairly high reviews for this game.

Sprint Button default is R2 I believe.

Somehow I doubt it this year but: Care to be more specific?

frame rate studder was the most important thing i noticed

Hmmm... I don't see that here myself. I have both systems and last year I had gone 360 all the way for this game because of the frame rate issue.

I agree that the crowds don't look great, in general, although they're better this year vs. previous years.

What kind of TV are you running and what kind of settings?

I'm running my systems on a Sony KD34xbr960 CRT Tube. The 360 scales to 1080i and we all know the PS3 doesn't so that's at 720p.

As best I can see, I'm seeing something essentially identical and feeling something identical whereas last year it was a night and day difference that favored the 360.

YMMV

I'm like everyone else, how the hell did you get the game so early? I know if a retail store was to start selling the game before EA wants them to(namely before Tuesday I think), said retail store could get into a world of trouble. I know it could happen (stores having the game in stock and selling it early) but it's not supposed to.

They had it on the shelves. I had no clue it was out a week early, I just bought it on impulse. lol. It was at the BX on an Air Force base in Osan Korea. I guess I should be grateful since they usually get games 2-4 weeks after the release date.

I looked at the manual and didn't see any turbo button, but guess I'll play it some more when I get home and try to figure it out.

I bought the PS3 version mainly because of the extra layer of coating on the BD disc. I'm hoping there will be trophies for this game otherwise I'll regret not getting the 360 version.

Lucky! On previous versions, default sprinting was accomplished by tapping the X button. I think that in last year's version you could also sprint by pressing up on the Right analog stick.

That's what I thought too but turned out to be the stiff arm. I'm going to try the R2 and hopefully that's it.

I can't believe the lack of love and hype for this game! However i guess after many years of EA screwing up. People no longer care.

Anyways, I'll throw in my 2 cents and say that this game looks like its gonna rock!

My college buddies/roomies & I played dynasties EVERY year from 98-02 on the ps1 & ps2. Then the game started going, well not downhill, just not uphill enough to warrant 50 bucks by only adding silly features(campus legend & Others) in my opinion. After growing up and getting my business degree I switched over to Madden and fell in love with all the details of franchise mode!!! But the last EA football game i bought was a used Madden 05. Many will agree that from there EA just went downhill.

Once the ps3 was released i was pumped for the next gen EA Football games. Then I heard that NCAA SUcked & Madden had no franchise mode. I downloaded the demo for ncaa 08 and wanted to cry!!!! How could a game look that bad?

Last week I downloaded NCAA 09 & Its awesome! The button layout blows chuncks for me, but thats cause i'm used to button controls of 05.

FYI - Sprint is R2

The graphics are really nice. The turf blows my mind. I love how the fans in the crowd cheer and boo for their teams respectively. They added tons of detail to the running game with lots of options for jukes!

The interface to select plays confuses me a bit. but maybe i'm the only one.

Well thats it! Hope to see some of yall online for some battles!

Does anyone know if it will be possible for the roster names to be downloaded directly using PSN instead of having to have a PC?
