Default What is the best "mode"

I was just wondering, my stereo systems seems to be able to use a couple different modes to play the audio, and I was wondering what is THE BEST.

I'm probably using the wrong terminology but I'm talking about stuff like Uncompressed PCM, Dolby TrueHD, or DTS-HD Master, which sounds the overall best and has the highest quality?

there are many arguements, but technically it's just three different names for the exact same sound... no difference...

I think as long as they are all the same bit "depth" I think that is the right word, they should all sound exactly the same. Or that's at least what I've been led to believe.
