USA Amazon France "Gold Box Deal of the Day" on Complete House M.D.

Amazon France has a "Gold Box" deal on House M.D.: The Complete Series, for €69,99 ($87) instead of €99,98 (30% off) here. The deal expires in 6 hours from this posting and 44% of their stock is already gone.

The set contains all 8 seasons of the TV show (only 6 to 8 are currently available in the US) and unlike the British, Spanish, Japanese or Brazilian versions (where the presentation is a simple box), the French set presents itself as an oversized letter H with the individual cases in both "wings".

WARNING: The blu-rays here most likely contain the European version of the opening credits rather than the American one by Massive Attack for those who care about this sort of thing.

I feel you, though since they've gone this way it is unlikely these discs will ever get a re-do, and they'll probably remain lossy if/when seasons 1-5 get released in the US.

It's cool how they designed the France one but it would take a lot more room to display something like that. The UK one looks more practical, IMO. Though this takes the cake for originality.

Couple comments from a guy who owns this exact set.

1) Yes, the H box is bigger than a box that just holds the discs. However, it's probably smaller than you think, and a lot less annoying than the American Battlestar Galactica original box with the cylon figure on top. I actually love the box set since it looks nice and it's clear what it is.

2) I find the quality of these discs to be excellent. Are they the absolute best they can be? Probably not, but the show wasn't shot with Atmos sound, so overall, I'd highly recommend these.

3) The only "better" option, for those that don't mind streaming their TV or movies (or downloading them, THEN watching them) is Vudu has each season for $9.99/each. I already had the French Blu-Rays, and wasn't sorry I bought them. But sometimes I wanna watch episodes on my iPad, a video game system, or even my cell. And at $80 for the entire series, I bought them AGAIN. Yes, I'm a little obsessive, but I just love this show.

I see the price in France has gone up before I even saw this. Probably sold out. But despite the different opening music, I find the French set to be really good stuff!
