You know what I know.

I will note that several of the links on the site don't work. Looking for more confirmation that this is not some sort of elaborate hoax.

Saw this player posted on AVS.

thing is that the company itself looks kind of wierd to me. I have never seen a support site give an email like this Jason@gowellent.net. using a name is strange in my book. seems like a very low end company. tryed serching for it but found nothing but this site.

Seen dozens of DVD players from China while shopping here in Asia.

Never once seen the name, "Gowellent" or "Gowell" or "Egowell" on any of them.

Unless they manufacture for other brands.

Looks ridiculous, why would a device with a completely flat top like that have buttons and logos on top, preventing you from stacking something on top of it? Looking at their products page, all their products share that characteristic, it's very odd.

This is not for high-end users IE not for stacking or to be put on racks as it is very small. I've seen this design on other cheap DVD players so it's nothing new. It's designed as the only DVD machine hence the buttons up top.

If this comes to fruition, we may get a US$399 or lower players soon.

I think this is good news. Although i have no interest in a cheap BR player not everyone is into higher end equipment like most of us on these boards. Ultimately BR has to be cheaper if it is to compete with regular DVDs not to mention HD-DVDs. As its my opinion that the majority of the population has to be convinced to give up regular DVDs.

I think this is yet another of those hoax's. Look at the Specs. H.264 (which is MPEG-4 pt10) and MPEG4 but no mention of VC-1 or MPEG-2 both mandatory in the BD Spec.

I don't think a player that thin should have anything stacked on top of it.

Can't see any Blu-ray logo on it, looks like the standard DVD logo on the tray/slot cover.
