Default Clearplay on Blu-ray (Movies edited for family viewing)

I hadn't been noticing, but the Clearplay player is now updated for blu-ray, and the edit files automatically update through wifi. Pretty cool.

Although their library of edit files for DVD is huge, the blu-ray library has a long way to go. But there's a nice streaming service included with the monthly membership -- and it has mostly new releases. I've never quite seen so many new releases on a monthly membership streaming bases.

Anyway, I thought this thread could be a good place to discuss when they release some more titles on blu-ray.

How is this company still around??
It amazes me that anyone on a Bluray enthusiast forum would pay money to have a film altered by a third party...

Movies offered in Clearplay:
Heaven is for Real
The Bible
God's Not Dead

Yes, I'd like to show The Bible to my family, but don't want my precious little angels to see The Bible's objectionable content.

This kind of shit makes me sick. Seriously?!?! What the hell happened to the concept of PARENTING?!?! I grew up watching R rated films from the age of 8 years old onwards... unedited! And my parents were smart enough to have conversations with me about what I had seen. This helped instill me with a very early concept of right and wrong in the world while simultaneously encouraging/stimulating meaningful and thought-provoking conversation.

People shielding their kids from the reality of what is in the world (entertainment and otherwise) are stunting their kids adaptability and setting them up for a shockingly unrealistic perspective on the world. It's another way in which parents are just leaving it to society to take the blame when their kids turn out sour. "Blame everyone but myself" is the motto of this generation of parents.

Now, I'm not saying that everyone should let their 3 year olds watch Freddy Krueger at work, but seriously?!?! There are very few films in the grand scheme of things that need to be kept from the eyes of children at inappropriate ages. And, you likely wouldn't be watching those "as a family" anyhow.

ClearPlay is not allowed to create a hard copy of other people's movies, but it can create software filters to "edit" movies "on the fly".

They're still paying to have their film experience altered from the original.
And...streaming?? Does this company actually license streaming rights to films??

I'm not saying that I agree with what they're doing, but both Congress and the courts have already made it clear that there are things that ClearPlay can and can't do.

As for streaming...their website has plenty of information about how they deliver their services.

Although I can understand why they think this is a good idea; why not just review the content of the movie before you watch or buy it?

As a similar person mentioned, I thought that this company was no longer around.

They prolly used the argument that people can rip out the pages of a book that they buy. You can't sell that book as a "sanitized alternative", but you can do whatever you want with your personal copy.

At any rate, they are fully operational and obviously have a market (however small it may be).
