Default Lawrence of Arabia?

According to PSM (Playstation Magazine)...

Quote:
A few July releases:

Flatliners
Lawrence of Arabia (restored version)
The Patriot
Rent
Premonition
Reign Over Me
Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within
Godzilla
The Dark Crystal
I had no idea Godzilla and The Dark Crystal were even in the pipeline. I would take this with a grain of salt until we hear something official from the studio though.

Lawrence of Arabia Blu-ray

Wow, I wonder if this is true. Lawrence in July! That would be beyond cool!

Cautiously optimistic.....

I wonder if this is the previously rumored release in France? That was supposed to be in July, so it fits.

Hmm...could be. Since PSM is primarily a video game magazine, I wouldn't be surprised if they're off a bit. Here's to hoping

BTW, for those of you who've picked up the latest issue or have a subscription, it can be found in the small Blu-Ray section on page 65.

Default Lawrence of Arabia - Is it ready?

I saw a commercial earlier today on HDNET about how Lawrence of Arabia had finally been remastered in HD, and how it was going to be shown for the first time ever on high definition. This probably means that the blu-ray transfer should be complete soon. I have to say, it looked amazing. Another one for the collection.

Here's the link to their schedule: http://www.hd.net/movies_schedule_by_title.html#M1457

i believe an insider said it was ready, however sony was trying to figure out when to release it and how to package it ( I think they are debating if it should be given treatment like CEOT3K).

I hope it is... That is some classy packaging. Somewhat reminiscent of the care and attention that went into Laservision sleeve design.

I watched it on HDNet today (Sunday, Februray 10, 2008). I had seen the 70mm version of the film in theaters on three different ocassions. I also have copies of it on VHS and DVD. The quality of the broadcast on DirecTV was very good. In my opinion, it is the best movie ever made.

Hmmmmm ... Like, release it in a box that has a sheath and knife, like the knife Lawrence uses to look at his reflection when he first wears the clothes of a Sheikh.

I saw bits and parts of it on HDNet today. Pictures looks good but not Bluray quality you know what I mean.
The Master problably is BD quality but I'm pretty sure they compress the hell out of broadcast signal.

Not a good idea in the police state that the UK is now... You'd get an ASBO for buying the Blu-Ray

Your right, I believe it was Penton Man who confirmed this a while back. Also there was word from Bill Hunt at Digital Bits on this so it is coming this year.

Have you no fear, Blu-supporters?

The DVD of this version was mighty fine and I anxiously await the Blu-Ray.

As early as this month?!?! I was sure this was a summer thing at the earliest.
I remember hearing they were working on the digital HD transfer, but I did not know if they were finished yet.
If so, this is a must buy for me!

Oh, too bad

I had imagined an inlayed sandalwood box. Open the lid there's the knife and sheath, below that compartment there's a little sliding drawer or tray with the BD, in another drawer a BD with bonus stuff and in another drawer a booklet. Oh well, back to the drawing board
