Default How does my set up sound?

I've noticed that some of my blu-ray movies don't look that good, like Spiderman looked horrible. I was wondering if it is just my set up or maybe my TV?
Here's the set up:
TV: Samsung 1080p LN-T4071F LCD
Blu-ray Player: Panasonic DMP-BD30
HDMI Cable: Monster HDMI 1000HD Ultra-High Speed HDMI Cable
Thanks!!!

Have you calibrated your television? Start by turning down your sharpness.

Actually played back by a Panasonic DMP-BD 30 and a Samsung Full HD TV it shouldn't matter if some of the settings are off. If you try the preprogrammed themes like Movie or Standard it should look ok.
I myself just bought the Samsung Le37 A 552 and most movies have really looked great. Except for "Hostel 2". That was such a bad transfer it couldn't be helped with any setting...
You should get one of these THX or whatever they called discs. You know. Which allows you to check you system and Tv. They can bring clarity to your problem

First off, please return that Monster cable. You can get the same quality cable for much less. Next, calibrate your TV. Then, give us a budget for a sound system. (Don't flame my recommendations please )

Let the man spend what he wants on cables. There is no difference, agreed, but if he is happy with the Monster Cable, let him be happy.

He didn't say he was happy. I don't know who would want to spend more money on something that's not necessary or that doesn't make a difference. Most people haven't even heard of Monoprice. Didn't I say don't flame my recommendations?

I see all kinds of BMW Z4s driving around, I don't tell the driver that they could get a faster car with that same interior and is also cheaper to service and repair for half the price.

The cable is not the problem, so don't tell him to return it because it is too expensive. I own a 4' and a 8' length of M series HDMIs, I wanted fancy (I also paid ridiculously cheap prices for them) so I got fancy cables.

80% of my home theater system is wired with the best Monter Cable wires out there. Reason why is because if I invested a lot of money for the best sound and picture I should have high quality cables with it. I dont want to feel using cheap ass cables. Picture this... if you were to buy yourself a Ferarri would you put in arco regular unleaded gas? Would you take your Ferrari to get an oil change at wal mart? Would you buy your newborn baby a used milk bottle as goodwill? If anyone could afford monster cable let it be. Just my thoughts.

btw! your new blu ray player probably not set the right video format. Make sure you have it set to 1080P in the set up menu. Otherwise it may be running at 480i.

You're missing the point. There is no visible difference between normal sized Monoprice or Monster Cable. There is a difference between grades of gasoline and types of oil. That comparison doesn't apply. I don't get the used baby bottle thing either.

He 's right. There is no discernable difference between monoprice and Monster Cables.

Buy what you want. This is a free country. Be happy with whatever home theater set up you have. If that means owning Monster, then buy Monster. Just don't tell anybody that they have bad stuff and made a mistake purchasing, that is just bad form.

First, BMW's are a respected name. You shouldn't ever compare it to Monster. I don't hate Monster, it's just I care about people and their money.

If he wants to keep his cable, then so be it. I was just telling him about Monoprice. The title even asks how it sounds. That was my opinion. I'm looking out for others. We need to stop bashing each others opinions around here. It's really awful. I never said that Monster is bad stuff and he made a mistake purchasing it either. It was my recommendation for him to return it.

I never said that BMWs are bad. A lot of what they do is top notch.

I don't care about people's money. Let them spend it how ever they want (even if that means buying a Z4). If that makes you happy, then great. Spend $200 on a cable if you want to and can. For the OPs purpose, spending less on a cable will not fix his picture quality issues, neither will spending more.

I know it's not going to fix his PQ problems. I didn't say you said BMW's are bad either. With the money he saves by returning his Monster means he can save that money for more Blu's or a new audio system. The OP said he spent years saving for his TV and Blu-ray player. Money isn't a continuous flow for most people and I'm here trying to help them save that money and have a better setup and better enjoyment.
