but yeah.. the time im gonna spend 30-40$ on a single movie is mostly over. alot of these asian movies show up as US release for 10$ later or get a "plain" rerelease for 19$ after a few months...
Since Plain are charging 27.50 would I be right in assuming that there won't be standard editions later on for these KOFA releases?

Brilliant releases--March of Fools only had a VHS release (unsubbed) previously.
Pre-ordered both titles.

happend with other releases before... plenty of movies have been rereleased as "plain archive" editions. and i dont think they went trough all the trouble to restore these movies to let them go OOP after a limited run by one label...

That seems strange...
The audio track of "The Box of Death (1955)" has been lost. So there will be no audio or subtitle options for this feature.

Figured it would be either that or the film not having an audio track in the first place, which would've been unlikely. Thanks for the info.

The Korean Film institute have a Youtube channel, where they've uploaded over 90 classic Korean films, with optional English subs. Lots of them are restored too. It's a good way to check out titles which may end up finding their way onto Blu ray in the future:

He's referring to Kim Ki-young's The Insect Woman. The MOC release is the Shohei Imamura film.

For people who received this, what is the runtime of the film and extras, and how long is the booklet?

Feature is 111 min

Extras:
I am a Truck 18min Subs: Korean/English
The Box of Death 79 min
Directors on Kim Ki-young 48 min Subs: Korean/English/French/Japanese

Booklet is roughly 40 pages, half in Korean and the other half in English.

Hope that helps.

The audio commentary is subtitled in English and Korean only, I assume?
Some other questions, are the extras in HD? And would it be possible to post the runtime in minutes+seconds?
Also, I read on SeoulSelection that there is also a Martin Scorsese introduction, is that right? Does it play at the start of the film or is it a separate extra like the Criterion release?

EDIT: found the pictures at PlainArchive. It is sold out there though - is it limited? Would people recommend this package to someone who hasn't seen The Housemaid but want to?

Still available at Kimchi.

I haven't seen it, nor do I own it. But one of these days I'll get around to ordering it. Assuming it hasn't sold out by then.

Thank you for the link - I just ordered it. The price is reasonable and kimchidvd allows me to set my own value on the package and thereby avoid customs! I've heard good things about the movie but the overall set is what sold me! It looks incredibly nice and it has a few of his other movies on there!
