Disney Ant-Man 3D Blu-ray (2015) [Region Free]

So this will be out in a few months, teaser will be out next couple of days. I'm very excited! It's unfortunate that Edgar Wright left the project to be replaced with a more studio friendly director but I'm hopeful and confident that we still get a very entertaining movie. There is lots of potential for fantastic 3D with all the shrinking down and how the action scenes could play out. here's hoping Peyton reed will embrace the 3D much like James Gunn did for Guardians of the Galaxy.

The first trailer or teaser looks cool. The few glimpses of the FX look great and hopefully they can play a lot with the 3D.

Thoughts?

Ant Man looks like it could be a good movie, and I agree, some nice opportunities for the 3D point of view.

As a kid years ago, it was always fun to imagine being the scale of a small action figure, exploring the room and giant world surrounding you.

What is cool about Ant Man is his ability to shrink or normalize his suit at will. So if he's falling from a plane without a parachute, he can shrink down and fall into a small pond, then grow large once the momentum has worn off.

Looks promising despite some of the flak this type of character will no doubt get, since it's such a unique super power, similar to Atom Man.

Name the last Marvel movie that wasn't in 3D (since they started releasing their movies in 3D in 2011).

Yeah i think this will stand out as it's quite a unique idea, or at least we haven't had a big budget Honey i Shrunk the Kids style concept since... well Honey i Shrunk the Kids!

I know and i hope it. But Marvel is part of Disney who is not fond of 3D anymore.
But have you seen evidence that its gonna be in 3D ?

Good question. While not absolute proof, here are some hints that it will likely be 3D:

I have not but I will be amazed if it is not, seeing as how Marvel loves 3D now. I hear you on Disney but at worst it'll mean US having to import. That said I doubt this would not be released on 3D blu ray in the US.

Agreed. Marvel's track record for 3D has been pretty much continuous since they began several years ago.

EDIT: Ant-Man's trailer showed before Taken 3 in theaters. Compared to the other trailers that played, it's a good trailer, though not much action was shown, being mostly build up to a tiny ant man on the back of a flying insect, which makes an unfamiliar audience wonder, what can a tiny bug with a little guy on it do against the enemies? No doubt the next trailer reveals a lot more excitement and the true purpose of why becoming tiny is a super power.

Imagine Ant Man jumped into someone's mouth and then expanded to full human form quickly? Definitely one cruel method for taking down villains.

I think the trailer should have shown a bit more of the action side of things. The test footage shown at a comic con from a few years ago was awesome, with him shrinking down, running along a guys gun, grabbing his tie and swinging him round by it. It was very, very cool, very inventive and like nothing really seen on screen before. I am hopeful for a lot of sequences like this in the movie.

I'm not positive but I think ant mans strength increases as he shrinks. So eventhough he's tiny, he'd be super strong.

That test footage was nicely done. My favorite part is when he jumps on the guy's shoulder while small, and then grabs it and turns into his human scale, while flipping and tossing him through the window.

You may be right, as I noticed in the test footage, Ant Man kicks the guy's face and his face gets knocked back in slow motion. It'll be interesting how they explain it. I haven't read the Ant Man Comics.

Marvel has been *the* glaring exception to Disney's 2014-15 hatred of BD3D in North America; Thor 2, Cap 2 & GotG were all released on BD3D here in 2014. Things can change, but for now there is little reason to believe Ant-Man will be any different as far as 3D, either theatrically or on home video.

Finally got around to finishing Agent Carter today. At the end, they showed the full trailer and at the end of the trailer, it had the IMAX 3D logo.

Good observation Jwerk. I saw the trailer but didn't pay attention to the end credit.

Thumbs up

Ant Man 3D opens July 17, 2015, next week.
Then Pixels 3D the week or so after.

August though, looks like a drought for theatrical 3D movies.
September returns with some 3D.

Ant Man looks like it could be a comical super hero movie and here's hoping the 3D delivers.

I want to see this movie, but I'm really sick of the trailer at this point. It's played in front of literally EVERY movie I've seen theatrically for months now.

Very much looking forward to this, even if it is essentially just an Iron Man redo. Let's hope we have 3D equal with GOTG!

Watch the Comic Con event on IGN live and every intermission they showed the same trailer, without exception. I was surprised they kept repeating the same trailer for those watching the live stream interviews (going on through Sunday). I like the trailer, but after so many views, I need a break.

Yeah, if this matches Guardians of the Galaxy's 3D, we're in good shape. The trailer for Ant Man has some the strongest 3D I've seen in a trailer this year for 3D conversions. I hope it's on par with Pacific Rim's 3D.
