Default Galavant (Fantasy comedy musical)

Didn't see a thread for the show yet. But its starts this Sunday on ABC so I figured I would start one.
That being said I saw the entire first episode about six months ago and absolutely loved it. Calling it a love child of Men in Tights and The Princess Bride is spot on.
Timothy Omundson steals the show in my opinion.

It's written by Dan Fogelman (Cars), with music by Alan Menken (The Little Mermaid) and lyrics by Glenn Slater (Tangled)

Well ill be interested to hear other peoples thoughts come Sunday.

I'll most likely check it out based on the Men in Tights and The Princess Bride comparison but I'm not really much into musicals. Just how much singing is there?

Seems like it has a good amount of guest stars lined up. John Stamos, Weird Al and Ricky Gervais.

And it's got a lot of talent behind the scenes. It's written by Dan Fogelman (Cars), with music by Alan Menken (The Little Mermaid) and lyrics by Glenn Slater (Tangled).

Ratings started off pretty decent.

The premiere of Galavant scored a 2.1 adults 18-49 rating. A second episode at 8:30PM garnered a 1.9. The 2.0 average for the 8-9PM hour was up 15 percent from the series low 1.7 for the midseason finale of Once Upon A Time.

I absolutely love the show! I will definitely buy it if it is released on Blu-ray! Hopefully it will be (and hopefully it will be uncensored. I've heard worse on ABC. Why "bleep" b*tch? Anybody seen How To Get Away With Murder? Oh my!)

When I saw the pilot last year online it wasn't censored and was longer with at least one other song.

The censorship was meant to be funny. ABC didn't make them censor it as they say those words all the time in other shows. It was done as they found the censorship to be funny at those moments and to fit with the fairytail theme.

Whether you found it funny or not is another thing. I thought it was funny but would rather get it uncensored on BD as the first pilot did not censor it.

So to those who saw the pilot a ways back before it was on tv. The Chef had a song didnt he. I just seem to remember more of the chef when I saw the early pilot.

Finally gave a shot at the pilot and it was pretty funny I have to admit.

The joust in particular had me laughing pretty hard ... there is a very Monty-Python: Sacre Graal-esque quality to the show that is certainly refreshing.

Will keep on watching, but I wonder how much of a hit it will need to be to offset the (probably) high costs compared to a studio sitcom though.

[Show spoiler]I'm going to have to look up the reactions to the finale, seems like one people could lose their mind over. I thought it was an odd way to end given they didn't know how well it would do. I guess because it was so short I was less invested so it didn't upset me to have so many loose threads.

I'm so happy this show is back on the air. I love it so much.

Best parts of the premiere: the spank bank line and the fortune teller screaming "SEVEN!!!" and then promptly pulling out the paper teller.

Same here. The S1 soundtrack lands on my doorstep this week. I'd love to get the series on blu-ray as well.
