Default Ultra High Definition Alliance.

This is good news, only a pity the usual suspects are not on board:

Of course, this is great news. Nobody wants to buy into 4k with the uncomfortable feeling that what they've bought may not fit proper standards. But on a side note, although I plan on embracing 4k I'm old enough to see the reality of entertainment. The truth of the matter is that the 1951 movie, 'The Day the Earth Stood Still' would be vastly more entertaining on a 13" B&W CRT TV than 'John Carter' would on a 77" OLED TV. I don't care how many bells and whistles TV manufacturers dream up to generate profits, a pig is a pig is a pig.

Too bad they didn't saddle up before now, but it's not too late to set some real standards and level the ship.

Methinks you haven't seen John Carter.

No, it's not a classic but it was pretty entertaining and a solid big screen experience.

It was an excellent movie, and didn't deserve all the criticism is got.
