This release includes the first three (and IMO best) of the COTC series, and I think this marks Children of the Corn II's first time on blu-ray?
![]() http://shop.dtm.at/product_info.php?products_id=57035 These transfers come supposedly uncut in 1080p and with English DTS HD 5.1 from Capelight, only the first movie has extras (audio commentary and featurettes). Last edited by Bumblefeet; 01-08-2015 at 06:42 PM. |

I just received the I-III mediabook and it looks amazing. Annoyingly one of the disc holders of part III is broken off (I suspect before it was sealed as it's missing altogether) and the disc doesn't hold in place. I ordered at Beyond-Media so I'm going to request a replacement.

I collect Mediabooks and happen to enjoy some of the Children of the Corn films but this set just doesn't do it for me. The second film is terrible IMO, while the 3rd is enjoyable but I already have it on Blu-ray and this transfer doesn't appear to be an improvement over the Miramax/Echo Bridge US release. The first film has been re-released so many times it's turned into one of those movies you're starting to get tired of, like The Evil Dead. Not that the films are bad, just that you're tired of the constant reissues. When someone puts together a complete series box set that's as definitive as it can be I'll buy it.

I just tested both discs and the second looks amazingly good, solid amount of detail and only the occasional spec here and there. The third one less so, it has varying levels of digital noise as well as edge enhancement and shows signs of compression. But still the best I've seen both sequels look (and I doubt they'll ever look better).
BTW I wasn't aware that the first COTC had that many releases on Blu? It only had a standard release in the US and then later on the anniversary edition (which this mediabook seems to equal in terms of extras). I'm glad this mediabook came around as I was looking to get the original on blu-ray from the US and to have parts II & III is for me more than enough corn to stomach. ![]() |

Received my replacement today from beyond-media (very fast!) and just finished the first COTC, hadn't seen it in a while. I was generally impressed by the transfer, there are some soft shots here and there but intentional for the prologue, less so for some of the later shots which were obviously shot out of focus. The movie holds up well aside from the 'out of money' end sequence and I liked the extra features on this (same as the 25th ann version).
Even though this adaptation changes around a lot of the King story (the aiding brother and sister, Malachi taking on Isaac), it is lightyears better than the 2009 tv version. |

Found out a few days ago from a German forum that the HD master of Part 3 is cut. There are approx. 2 minutes missing from the films finale compared to the old VHS and DVD releases.
This concerns EVERY Blu-ray of this title worldwide! |

Cutting report (German version):
https://www.schnittberichte.com/schn....php?ID=856610 German label Capelight promoted the release as "Uncut for the first time in Germany" and even printed a big "Uncut" tag on the cover. And they must have known about the cuts from the beginning because they had the German press tape as their source for the German audio. The press tape was the uncut version which means the had to cut the audio in order to fit it to the cut HD master. |
