That's one I never thought I'd see on blu. Despite the immense amount of talent in writing, acting and even animation it's not a success and I've never really figured out why. Lust fails largely because Harry H Corbett plays it too tragic to be funny, Wrath and Avarice are pretty lifeless, in Envy Harry Secombe is outshone by Geoffrey Bayldon and June Whitfield, Spike Milligan's Sloth is only intermittently funny. There are some good parts, Leslie Philips is splendid in Gluttony, and Pride, with a great script by Galton and Simpson and good acting from Ian Carmichael and Alfie Bass is a complete success. This was Stark's only film as director and I think its failure is down to him as the material and cast are first rate. I really hope there are some extras on the disc.
Stark was fortunate to die before Opertion Yewtree turned its attentions to him. Best quote about him was from John Le Mesurier, who rarely had an unkind word for anyone, “Graham Stark is the only man in London with a flat up Peter Sellers’ arse.” |

If something is OOP getting a new one is of secondary importance. Will you pay £41 for a new one or £15 for a "Very good" one. Looks like I got mine 5 months after release for £8 |
