Exclamation Sgt. Kabukiman NYPD 25th Anniversary Edition 2015!!!!

Sgt. Kabukiman N.Y.P.D. Blu-ray PRE-ORDER

One of my favorite Troma flicks finally hits Blu-ray!!! From Troma's Facebook:

"2015 will be a great year for Troma releases! There are too many to reveal just yet, but since it's the 25th anniversary of Sgt Kabukiman this year, this one's a given. Coming soon to a Tromashop near you, it's the SGT. KABUKIMAN NYPD bluray!!"

Thanks OP, but I will believe it when I see it. Troma has one of the worst track records of any of the companies releasing blu-rays.

Excellent

If I wasn't at work I'd post a clip of the car crash/explosion

Now if we can only get a decent uncut RABID GRANNIES on blu, that would be fantastic!

They have a hard time hitting release dates. But apart from Surf Nazis Must Die & Pep Squad, everything else they've announced for blu-ray has been released AFAIK. I think they'll get this one out by the end of the year to capitalize on the anniversary.

Love this one. I hope they can also give us a good version of "Troma's WAR" sometime soon

There's a good version of that movie, or do you just mean a good transfer? I tried watching it on Netflix once and just couldn't get into it so I got only halfway through. I feel like most of Lloyd's movies during the '80s were severely lacking; I haven't seen Sgt. Kabukiman but I'm concerned it's more of the same and not like the richness of Toxic Avenger 1 and 4, Class of Nuke 'Em High, Tromeo & Juliet, and Terror Firmer—that last one needs a Blu-ray release friggin' right away.

Yeah, I meant the transfer. I doubt that one is too high on their list of titles to release though.

I'm always excited to see more of the Troma catalog making it to Blu-ray. Sgt. Kabukiman is no Toxic Avenger, but it's also not Croaked: Frog Monster from Hell. Will be glad to add this to the collection.

Definitely agree about Terror Firmer. That's the Kaufman movie that's most dying for a BD release (since Toxic Avenger 4 is scheduled for next week). TF may be one of those "many releases" to make it out in 2015 (or be announced in 2015 ).

According to a poster in the 88 Films thread, there are no plans. But you never know.

I second the hope for Terror Firmer as the best next troma release. really got my hopes up for this. even some of the slightly lesser tromas would be welcome. and i keep hoping for some undiscovered gems as well, but TF is probably the last of the really really good ones waiting. I was suprised how much better even Toxic 2 seemed on blu.

I know for myself that good video quality goes a long way. Troma movies always looked terrible on DVD, but the widescreen HD transfers actually make you appreciate them as competently-shot films.

I'm looking forward to the video rental store opening of Toxie 3 and that's about it. Man that intro is loony. Yuppie Toxie, though? Yeeeaaah, not funny.

typo-alert: i think you meant looked terrible on DVD. agree about opening of T3 and the rest. still hoping nice HD will make the rest of T3 easier to watch. some of the ending fx should look good at least. I put off watching the awesome T4 for a long time cause T3 killed my TA buzz first time around.

The full frame transfer of Citizen Toxie was garbage for early/mid 2000s standards (from what I recall), especially when you compared its quality to that of the letterboxed widescreen trailer and even some of the other Troma DVDs that were out at the time.

Here's hoping that the 88 Films blu-ray of Citizen is both widescreen and surpasses the PQ of the trailer immensely.

As for Sgt. Kabukiman, I last saw it ten years ago or so. It was an interesting transitional film that was made after the Toxie sequels yet before Tromeo & Juliet and has elements of both styles. Love to revisit it in HD.

88 has some screenshots on their Facebook page and it's indeed widescreen.
