Default Questions on speakers

So im looking to pick up an onkyo tx-sr606 (about 350)

The question is for speakers whats the best thing to do, i think id start with 5.1 because i dont have room in my current place for the extra 2 of 7.1

Ideally id like a package of all 6 speakers. I can handle the speaker wire and installation, I was just wondering what the best thing to do for speakers would be.

My budget would be 200-400 for all 6 speakers. Nothing amazing/powerful, i have a small apartment so there's no way i need loud speakers, just decent quality.

Id prefer the fl,fr to be on stands or mountable to stands/walls because of the layout of the room there is a big table that would block the sound if they are lower then 2 feet. (aka not resting on the floor)

For the back two, wall or stands are a must (couch is 3.5ft high so wall mount preferable)

For the center and sub i have ample space for the sub (up to 10in, but probably dont need anything that big) and the center i have a spot for it to rest on top of the entertainment center.

edit

nevermind... bad advice

umm... I'd just look around best buy etc. for a system, and when you find a package you like, buy them on Amazon for a lot less
Check the polk's, infinities, Onkyo's, etc.

I'm waiting for the "put your girlfriend out on the corner, and save up for the Onkyo 8000X.2 and Klipsch X23's because anything less is inferior" posters to show up

Well thanks for stealing my advice

I'd just watch the Bestbuy and CC ads and go listen to what they have.

Well, that seems pretty fair!

Hell...what kind of speakers do you have, and what do they look like? My ex is a Hooters girl. I'm sure we could work out a reasonable trade!

Look at my sig. I still own my speakers it sounds like you don't have anything to trade, i.e. ex girl. Only if it were that easy. Sorry dear, your new address is xxxxx, but I did get a really nice set of speakers for for your set.
