Default Need Help With Settings

I think my continual questions have gotten lost in the bottom of threads.

This is an audio settings question

I have a Sony BPD-S350 and a Yamaha RX-V663 receiver all connected via HDMI 1.3 cables.

On my BD my settings are as follows for audio.

Audio Output Priority = HDMI
Audio (HDMI) = Auto
BD Audio Setting = Direct
Audio ATT = Off
Dolby Digital = Dolby Digital
DTS = DTS
48kHz/96kHz PCM = 48kHz/96kHz PCM
Audio DRC = Auto
Downmix = Normal

No factory settings were changed on my receiver except speaker sound levels.

When I play a 5.1 Uncompressed (48kHz/24 bit) audio movie my receiver displays PCM Is this the correct display?

When I play a Dolby TrueHD audio movie my receiver displays the Dolby digital symbol. I am pretty sure the TrueHD symbol should be displayed.

What is wrong with my settings? Why does the Dolby TrueHD symbol not show up??

Please help. Thank You!!

This change should be made in the Blu player not the Receiver

Thanks for the replies!!!

Here are my options for you all's suggestions.

Audio (HDMI) -

Auto (Normally select this. Outputs audio signals according to the status of the connected HDMI device)

2ch PCM (Downmixes to 2-channel Linear PCM signals before outputting from the HDMI OUT jack)

Audio DRC -

Can't turn off - Only Choices

Auto
Standard
TV Mode
Wide Range

Can give description if necessary.

Eagerly awaiting responses!!

Audio DRC -

"Selects the dynamic range (compression level of the sound) setting when playing a BD or DVD that conforms to "Audio DRC""

The only 2 that I think apply are:

Auto = Peforms playback at the dynamic range specified by the disc (BD-ROM only.) Other discs are played back at the "Standard" level.

Wide Range = No compression works. A more dynamic sound is produced.

sounds like "wide range" might be the best...you do not want compression. Unless youre trying to watch the movie at night at low volumes.

Still not getting the Dolby TrueHD symbol to appear on my receiver. It looks as though I am getting the Dolby Digital signal only. No PCM indicator either.

I am still pretty new to all this so bear with me!

did you turn off secondary audio?

edit: never mind, just downloaded the manual...direct is what you should have it on, which you do.

did you select the TreuHD audio track on the disc itself? (in the movie menu)

I have this receiver as well hooked up to my PS3. Having same isues as far as True HD or DTS etc showing up on the rec's display. Could anyone help me out who has this combo? It sounds pretty great, tho I still have to crank the volume to the -20s. Any help would be most appreciated.

the receiver will display PCM when using the PS3.

You would need a standalone player that can bitstream lossless audio for the receiver to display truehd and dts-hd ma.

in the end its the same thing.

Thanks, I feel better now. The seperation and all sound great it's just the cranking up. But, ntl, I'll be shopping for a stand-alone BD player....so I guess I'll be hopping over to the BD Player part of the forum. Thanks again!!
