Would you pay $5-$10 more for a Warner or Paramount Super bit 50GB disc? - Blu-ray Forum

Hopefully one day Warner and Paramount will maximize 1080P transfers with 4K scans and offer BLU-RAY owners discs with high bit rate MPEG-4/AVC or VC-1 that fills the entire 50GB disc up. Then the picture and sound quality will be much better compared to the HD-DVD format.

The better picture was what HD was suppose to be about. Bought best tv and player, just need the movies. There would have to be an improvement in overall pq to justify the extra $ but willing to buy if its there.

i dont think we should have to pay any more than we already are for them to use up the full disc, but at the same time, u know most of us from the forums are willing. whats the max amount you'd pay for a 1 disc blu-ray movie...i think i mightve bought a few at $39.99 when i first bought my ps3 at bestbuy so i could get a few movies to go along. i bought planet earth thru the warner bro.'s website with that promo deal, but even retail, i'd say its worth $99.99!

I would not pay for a superbit Blu-Ray they use enough space on the 50 Gigs to get great picture and sound, although 25 gigs is another story. The only way I would update a previous Blu-Ray Title was if it had better audio codecs or newer video codecs.

There is a third option missing: I would not pay more for a superbit edition because if Warner got it right, there would be no need for a SBE

If anything it should be cheaper, since they don't have to put in work for the IME/extras stuff.

the idea of blu-ray is that it is clearly superior to the DVD SB version....but it also includes the extras....the one thing that SB HAS TO exclude..

i reckon we're paying enough already and for a 17yo like me paying arnd $10Us ($15AUD) is heaps and iam almost broke so if they wanna charge me more they would have to beat disney and sony in PQ then i might think abt it

i got the missions collection(paramount) the PQ of the 1st movie is crap 2nd alright and 3rd was good.....................unforgiven(warner) is not a bad convert but the sound is compressedcould've been better hope they dont screw up 300

I just thought about something....

this whole encoding thing is a catch-22...

when 300 comes out.....if they use the same codec for BD as they do with HD DVD, then I assume there will be plenty of people boycotting...

but if this happens, then the HD-DVD version might actually do better....

...I still doubt it, but it can happen...

they better wise up soon....

Other studios are doing it properly at the same price - so I will just support them until WB/Paramount clues in....

I would rather sacrifice the shitty special features that saturate the disc before giving the studios another bleeding cent for hi-def. We already are paying a premium.

Currently so far what this poll has shown is that over 75% of movie collectors that voted would be willing to pay an extra $5-$10 for movies from Warner and Paramount that had the extra touch of quality that the HD-DVD format can not offer. We can only hope one day that Warner and Paramount fills up the 50GB discs with the highest bit rate possible for picture and sound quality. Having 5.1-7.1 PCM sound tracks with high bit rate MPEG-4/AVC or VC-1 has a market.

I would pay but these superbit discs should be the norm. I would be very upset if I had to pay $30-$40 anytime i wanted a movie
