Default Stigmata (1999)

Stigmata Blu-ray pre-order

Quote:
**SURPRISE NEW TITLE ANNOUNCE**

Fans of the 1999 possession-themed shocker STIGMATA will be pleased to know that we will be bringing it to the Blu-ray format for the first time on May 12th!

Starring Patricia Arquette (recent Oscar nominee for Best Supporting Actress in Boyhood), Gabriel Byrne (The Usual Suspects, In Treatment) and Jonathan Pryce (Brazil, Tomorrow Never Dies) the movie was a surprise hit at the time of its release, grossing nearly $90M at the box-office internationally.

No details on extras at this time but you can expect most (if not all) extras that were on the prior 2000 MGM DVD release to be ported over. We will keep you posted closer to street date. Pre-order links will go up next month.

As for future film announcements, we're hoping to reveal more to you this Spring. If our plans go accordingly, we will have a VERY busy "Summer of Fear Part 2" and Fall slate. Stay tuned!

I'm guessing this won't be a Collector's Edition?
Also is this the most recent film(1999) that Scream Factory has acquired, in terms of theatrical release date?

The Babadook would be the most recent (opened November 21st, 2014).

Neat. I remember this was one of the first movies I ever blind-bought on DVD. The film didn't really stick with me personally, but I'm surprised the movie was never released on BD sooner.

I can take or leave the movie but Patricia was super hot in this. Hope that steamy deleted scene is included.

I was wondering when this movie would show up on Blu-ray. A Hi-Def transfer has been making the rounds on cable for years, though it looks dated. I believe it already got released somewhere else in the world.

I know they are all under the same umbrella, but that was Shout. I was wondering if Scream had done anything newer than 1999?

Dog Soldiers (2002)
Carrie (2002)
Supernova (2000)
Ginger Snaps (2000)

...and, of course, all of the contemporary releases.

No. They have acquired brand new movies like The Battery. But in terms of catalog titles, then yes.

My mother likes the film so I just called and told her about the preorder. I don't think I have ever seen it, looks like I will be ordering two copies.

The Babadook is a Scream Factory release, not Shout Factory. The Scream logo is on the spine, IIRC.

Stigmata is an interesting choice that I didn't see coming. But I am happy they're releasing it.

Why didn't you see it coming? I mean, between Kino, Shout, Olive, and Twilight Time, we've had like 1000 MGM titles announced in the last few months.

Every studio is gutting the MGM catalog. I don't even know anything about this film actually. Seems like Scream will primarily be 1980/contemporary titles from MGM. I wonder if they have other deals with Fox or Universal

I dig this film quite a bit... but it probably helps that when my friends and I went to see it someone feinted during the subway scene. Paramedics came in and carted the teen off on a stretcher (she looked pretty embarrassed).

I just remember how when I was young and babysitters would talk about how some of their friends had to leave the theater after the 1st attack scene in AMERICAN WEREWOLF and other horror movies.. and I finally got to experience the joys of seeing a horror movie kick someone out of the theater due to intensity as opposed to stupidity.

Mentioned this one a few times on the Scream thread. Already expecting a lot of negative comments to show up on this thread. Might not be the greatest award winning movie of all time, but I sure enjoyed it. Looking forward to this release and more from Scream this year! I'm glad they're picking up some of the more "recent" titles as well. Hopefully if I keep mentioning Turistas in every thread possible they might release that as well until then... sign me up for Stigmata!
