Default LG BH200 Problem?

Hey guys,
I've had this player since January now. Every time I try to update the firmware, it uploads it, but I'm unable to play Blu-Rays and HD DVDs. What is the deal? My TV keeps telling me it can't find a signal from the movies.

I have to constantly keep reverting back to a previous version of firmware to watch movies on it.

The player is hooked up to a 46" Samsung via HDMI cable. I have no other connection from the player to the TV.

If anyone can tell me what the problem is, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Yes. It detects the firmware upgrades. I've used both USB and CDs to update the firmware. However, the problem still remains. My TV cannot find a signal with with Blu-Rays or HD DVDs I'm unable to see or hear anything. However, the player will play regular DVDs just fine.

I download the firmware, burn the software to a CD or upload it to USB stick and then insert either one into the player and udate the firmware.

You have to download the the firmware on a DVD and burn it as a image not a data file or it will not work. I have updated alot of Sony players for clients and their firmware will not work properly unless you do this.

Would you mind explaining this just a little bit more? I don't mean to be ignorant or anything, but what programs did you use and how would I burn it as an image?

Also, the previous version of firmware I have to keep reverting to is burned onto a CD. It still works.

how about a hard reset...unplug it from the wall for a few minutes after firmware update.

(do not turn off until update install is complete, of course)

this is what I found in the update instructions.

"5) When the update is completed, the message, “Update is complete.”will appear, and the power will turn off automatically after 5 seconds. h Main Software and Driver will take about 4 minutes."

I think its a typo error, but after it turns off, you should let it sit for about 5 minutes before turning back on. ?

also, which update do you have and which one are you trying to get?

because looking at LG's website, its all screwed up. Very poor if you ask me.

but one update I am looking at is:

* Firmware version : BH02080402F

1. Bonus View (BD Profile 1.1) Update
2. High Resolution Audio Support Update
1) DTS-HD 7.1Ch output via pass through
2) Dolby Digital Plus 7.1Ch output via pass through
3) Dolby TrueHD 7.1Ch decode & PCM output via HDMI
3. User selectable Film Mode (1080p 24Hz) has been enabled
4. Firmware update via Network has been enabled

* Attached File List
1. Firmware file for BH200 : LG_BH_LV221BH_0402F.zip
2. Update instruction (Manually) : Update Guide for BH200_Manual.pdf
3. Update instruction (Using Network) : Update Guide for BH200_Network.pdf

further review, I see you should be able to connect directly to the internet for update.

have you tried this method?

Thank You. I have used LG website. But I have not tried letting the system sit for 5 minutes. I will give this a try. I'll let you know how it turns out. You have no idea how much I appreciate this.

I give up. I've tried everything except hooking up directly to the network and I know that won't work either. I have no other emotion except I'm royaly pissed off that I will never be able to update the firmware on my LG player ever again.

Thanks to everyone for their help. But this thread can either be deleted or locked up. I really don't care.

Okay, here it goes, one last question.

Could it be that my TV cannon support the latest firmware upgrades and therefore can't display and audio or picture?

your tv should have nothing to do with it.

I think you should bring it over to your internet connection and give that a shot.

One problem i encountered is that when you copy the update file to the USB drive, make sure that there is no other files on it. I couldnot update the player if i had other files on the USB stick.

Officially have it working now. I had to have the resolution changed from the default setting to the HDMI user setting. Wierd.

Aah... If you had it set to output at 480i, the LG BH200 was sending output via its analog outputs. It won't do 480i over HDMI.

No...the LG BH200 will load firmware without an ISO image if he is using a USB stick - I own this unit and I did my first firmware upgrades via USB stick (after that via my ethernet cable).
