![]() ![]() Has anyone picked this up/rented it, and able to provide confirmed specs? I saw it at The Warehouse this morning, but was quite hesitant as it is released by Reel, who has just about as a bad history as Roadshow... they might even be the same company lol. The US specs are confirmed, and look decent enough for a 25gb disc. 1080i 25fps Confirmed See Post for Details. Filmed at 25fps. Last edited by LordCrumb; 01-29-2015 at 03:08 AM. |

Not sure on the NZ specs.
I bought the US release and am very happy with it. Excellent movie which comes with very good audio and visual quality. US release is also region free (with the possible exception of region c which I did not test). |

Woah, didn't realise this got released in NZ in December!
Tempted to cancel my JB AU order for the signed copy to grab a cheap one from JB NZ, it's almost half-price. Btw Davidian, remember 20% Off doesn't include pre-orders ![]() |

LordCrumb - I purchased the US one and posted the back cover image, but I would appreciate your adding the back image of the NZ/AU one, when you can. I assume that the extras are the same, but you know what is said about assumptions

Yeah no probs. Got shipping notification yesterday from JB NZ, so I estimate 2-6 weeks for it to get from Auckland to Whangarei, then the usual 2 week returns process when I open the bag and see they sent me the wrong shit.

LordCrumb - Looking through your Blu-ray collection, I noticed that there are quite a number of New Zealand titles on blu-ray that you do not have. I appreciate that you may not care for such as 'Kiwi Flyer', but what about 'Footrot Flats', 'Forgotten Silver', 'In my father's Den', 'Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence', 'Out of the Blue', 'The Quiet Earth', 'River Queen', 'The Tattooist', 'The Warrior's Way' or 'What we do in the Shadows', to name a few.
If you are having a problem finding something, let me know. I'm rather good at finding difficult and OOP items, if I do say so myself ![]() |

I don't really find it difficult, it's just the cost of importing those titles, as they are usually only available Germany. Footrot Flats is something I am still quite happy with on DVD ![]() Forgotten Silver is an Upscale I believe.. ? Last edited by LordCrumb; 01-26-2015 at 03:22 AM. |

As you no doubt know, the original PAL R4 and ntsc R1 DVD's are now OOP.
There is an R2 PAL version that was released December 2012 in Germany with a revised 1.78:1 format and DD 2.0 spoken English and German soundtracks. Extras include the 'Behind the Bull' featurette and the commentary track, both in English with optional German subtitles, selling for about 14 eur. A new digitally remastered PAL R0 DVD is available from the director's website, selling for $30nz. It contains the deleted scenes and the featurette, but no commentary track or subtitles. Although the video quality is much improved over the previous DVDs, it is presented 2.28:1 and therefore it has been squeezed vertically. As of 07 December 2012, a 1080p Region B Blu-ray version presented 1.78:1 with a DTS HD Master 2.0 spoken English or German soundtrack has been released in Germany. It contains the audio commentary track, in English only, and the featurette, 'Behind the Bull', also in English. It is selling for about 14 eur. Therefore, unless one has either the OOP R1 or R4, I would recommend one of the German releases. I do not understand why Costa Botes formatted his remastered DVD 2.28:1, but I find it distracting ![]() |
