Wow these threads start as early as the preorder placements these days. It's about 10 months away from the doorstep

I was planning on seeing it tomorrow, but it's looking less likely now, but I will be seeing regardless, love PTA.

Eh? The film opens tomorrow so I imagine the blu will be released in either April or May not 10 months away.

I remember a time on this forum when threads start when the blu was announced mostly with street date...not before they're in the cinema.

The need for opening a topic for a movie of which there is absolutely no info on the blu-ray release, escapes me too?
Discussions about the movie can take place in the movie thread.

Maybe it's already time to open a topic for the upcoming blu-ray Avengers Age of Ultron ?

I remember several times when people started threads for highly anticipated films and people didn't complain, street date or no (e.g. Boyhood, Gone Girl, Interstellar, Birdman).

As for release information, does that matter? I notice there is no information about MoC's upcoming release of The Offence, but somebody has started a thread anyway. It shouldn't matter - if anything it's helpful to let people know there are pre-orders up!

Also, it comes out tomorrow...are you implying you wouldn't complain if I had posted this tomorrow instead? Another benefit is that people can get a more UK-specific response to the film. On the general film thread, it'll mostly be US viewers who most of whom would have seen the film months ago. I haven't done anything outrageous by making this thread, have I?

It seems there is a one up person ship mentality by some members to be seen to be the first to start the thread for every new release, As you say these are well before pre-orders are up and many times its theatrical opening. So no info available and it ends up being a discussion of what we saw theatrically for many months before there is a clearer idea of what the BD looks like.

Less a case of 'one up person ship mentality' and more a case of not knowing where to post a pre-order link on the forum to let other people know - if there was a dedicated Warner thread I would've happily posted it there, as I have done in the past on the Eureka thread.

Your complaints about what will ensue after these threads are made sounds like more of a critique of the forum in general, which begs the question: why are you reading and commenting on these forums?

Yeah spot on. Looking forward to some tool posting Star Wars 7, 8, 9 threads soon. Maybe Captain America 3 thread should start this afternoon. Or Ghostbusters 3 by tomorrow morning.

You guys really need to get over yourselves ... does it really matter?. I for one will be coming back to this thread to post my thoughts on the film after seeing it this weekend.

Fire on I say Rapta. If I want to talk about the movie's plot points specifically, I'll go to the movie forum, if I want to talk about which Blu-rays are coming, are available to order, what potential extras there are, and possible notes on problems that have affected other releases that we need to look out for, as well as possible plot points and opinions, then this is where to do it.

I can't remember seeing anyone make a thread for a title that has either not been announced or isn't available for pre-order. So what if the pre-order is sometimes months in advance? Often companies release further details as we approach, or even videos of the restoration process etc etc.

It's much better than 20 people rattling on about their steelbook has a minute scratch, or posts simply saying "ordered", "shipped" or "arrived" IMO, but just because those posts don't interest me, doesn't mean they don't interest other people, so just skip past them.

Why not post those thoughts in the movie forum where they're supposed to be? This ones supposed to be about the Blu Ray

Again, you could say that about any of the new release films with threads on the United Kingdom and Ireland section. Why pick on one specific film? I don't see you complaining on any of the other threads that have done the same thing.

No it doesn't matter at all, people just like to complain. Make that two of us! I for one am looking forward to seeing the film and picking it up on blu-ray in equal measure. I'll also be getting the soundtrack soon - Can, Neil Young and Minnie Riperton* alongside Greenwood's score! Unstoppable.

(*I wonder if Anderson used Riperton on the soundtrack 'cause he's married to her daughter! I suspect that's the truth, or at least close to it)

Inherent Vice is my most anticipated film of 2015, alongside Love & Mercy. If it's half as good as Boogie Nights I'll be a happy camper.

Also I'm a huge fan of Can, the use of Halleluwah in The Bling Ring was the only good part of the movie.

Cause I come on the BLU RAY forum for blu Ray information, seeing yet another placeholder thread for a blu Ray which hasn't even got a date yet and likely to be July at the earliest. Just pointless at this moment. As someone else said its all about scoring how many thread starters they can get.

I think if that's the case can a moderator shut down the movie forum, forum for discussing movies in theatres, seems it's redundent if people are just going to use Blu Ray thread to discuss film for the next six months

The only thing I don't like about these thread setups before confirmation means that the date of release is always set to TBA on the title. It's just a pet peeve of mine.

Nobody is keeping a score. Guess that's a little bit of a cynical view of things...

I'll change it when the release date is set

As for extras on the blu-ray, I hope Warner do add a commentary like they did for Boogie Nights (if he has recorded one already). If not, it'd be cool to see outtakes like EiV's release of The Master (some of the best outtakes to a drama I've seen). Will obviously be keeping an eye on the BBFC site.

Also, The Master and There Will Be Blood had accompanying material which was a nice touch - the John Huston doc on The Master disc, and the petroleum doc on There Will Be Blood. I wonder if Anderson gets a say in what goes on the home video releases like someone like David Fincher apparently gets a say in? From extras like that in the past I'd expect something interesting to be on this release...at least a making of.

Me too! Well, most anticipated of 2014 until it dawned on me we would end up getting a January release in the UK. Was very jealous when it got some previews at the Prince Charles Cinema in November...to the point where I almost bought tickets but decided not to as it was a little last minute. Those screenings were 35mm so I believe...kinda regret not going now!

I didn't even notice it in that film...not that I remember much about it. Surprised though - Tago Mago's my second-favourite Can album! Thought I'd remember something like that.

That had a street date for release in the US, so asking about BD release info in UK. Isn't that what a BLU RAY forum is about, aside from discussing discs? The thread you've linked wasn't about a movie not yet in the cinema, that I was going to see at the weekend....I'd post one of those in the MOVIES forum.
