Default JFK blu-ray OOP?

Was going to pick up a blu of JFK but it looks like it's OOP as prices are high for it.

I'm wondering since 2016 is it's 25 Anniversary do you all think it will get a new 4k scan like what Goodfellas is getting?

Wondering if I should wait?

It's not OOP. It's available currently from WBshop:

http://www.wbshop.com/product/jfk+%2...e=&from=Search

I can see them putting out an anniversary edition. Though they did put out a 50th anniversary edition in 2013 to commerate the anniversary of JFK's death.

There's also this edition which comes with part of an Olive Stone documentary series:

It should be noted that the U.K. disc has better PQ and is region free.

Yeah I'd be shocked if it was officially out of print. This is an example of OOP prices.

Looking at the WB press site, the standard release might be OOP. It's status is listed as "cutout" which I believe is typically reserved for titles not in print. The other edition with the Stone documentary I linked to above, and the 50th Anniversary set are both still listed as "Active" however (also the Stone triple feature set). Right now it's still available for reasonable prices since places still have stock, down the road prices may go higher.

It would be nice if they did that and included the theatrical cut too.

I agree. I don't really think the additional scenes add enough to the film to justify the added running time. It was a masterpiece as it was. I'd also prefer to have the film with the original title card at the end about the release of the government files (even if the info in it is no longer accurate), not the revised one that describes the impact the film itself had, that's a bit too meta for me

I have the UK DVD of the theatrical cut, but it's possibly the worst DVD I've ever seen. It has the quality of a Quicktime video, and of course it has PAL-speedup, so everyone sounds like The Chipmunks.

Since they released that Ultimate collector's edition I doubt they'll release something else.
But i'm looking forward too to the theatrical cut.

Very true. I think from a marketing perspective, it made more sense to tie in with the Kennedy assassination anniversary, crass as it sounds, than the anniversary of the film, which won't get the same press. Not that different from the Titanic 3D theatrical re-release for the 100th anniversary of the sinking.

Really? I thought Warner discs were identical overseas. How is the UK disc superior? I might want to pick it up.

The UK release comes from Fox. You can see a below. The difference isn't huge, and probably boils down to encoding (AVC over VC-1, etc..)

Thanks! Strange that Fox has it now in the UK, my UK DVD of the theatrical cut is from Warners. Oh well, looks virtually identical, not enough of a difference to bother me.

If you don't want to import, this three pack with JFK is cheap. http://www.amazon.com/Natural-Killer...=JFK+blu-rayIf If I didn't already have JFK on bd, I'd get it, especially since I don't own the other two movies.

Seems like the JFK 50 Year Commemorative Ultimate Collector’s Edition (Blu-ray) is surely out of print. I should have jumped on this when it was on sale for $24.96...thought it would end up being even cheaper like The Sound of Music and Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory collector's set, but nope. Went out of stock almost a year ago and has been since
