Good news. Would be great if Rio Bravo was remastered

I lucked out on this one. I have some on DVD, but none of these on blu-ray. Will purchase.

I must fight hard to resist the price-dump on these titles before the release of the collection.

I wasn't aware that Forth Apache was already released on blu-ray :/

What's really weird is that She Wore a Yellow Ribbon is not being included in this set. A glaring omission.

Yeah, that's the title I want on blu. I seriously doubt there are any new transfers in this set, though.

Too much redundancy in this set for me, since I own the existing individual Blu-rays of the already-released titles.

It looks like a great buy for the uninitiated, though.

Cahill: U.S. Marshall and Train Robbers will also be available separately on the same day, as is always the case with Warner and their boxes.

If they're going to fix whatever is wrong with The Searchers, they will probably wait untill next year, as pointed out above.

I just checked on Amazon and it appears that Rio Bravo BD is OOP. So, maybe, they have something in store for that one.

Incidentally, it occurred to me that, maybe, Warner have already set their eyes on Western Coll. Volume 2. That one could include: She Wore a Yellow Ribbon, Chisum, Three Godfathers, as well as two re-releases: The Cowboys and How the West Was Won.

In any event, I'm sure this announcement will make someone happy.

What do you guys see as the unifying theme of this set? The era of time?

So these are being released separately as well? Because the pic shows individual cases.

Really only interested in Rio Bravo at this point since I missed out on it the first time around.

Rio Bravo has been OOP in the U.S. for quite some time as well, at least a couple of years.

It was one of the more sub-par Warner transfers, the 4/5 review on this site is a joke (as are the user reviews, albeit most of these reviews are way out of date before we knew any better).

IMO it would be shocking if this was just re-releasing the same disc - otherwise they should just leave it OOP until they get a new transfer done. I'm guessing at very least they would give it a better codec and lossless audio, but I think the problem with the last blu-ray was much deeper than just the "codec".

This is one of my favorite westerns. I got rid of the old version because it's value inflated and i thought it was subpar quality blu-ray anyway. At least that gamble paid off, but hopefully this is better than just a chance to rebuy the same disc. This is one of those upper echelon films worthy of a 4K restoration IMO (as is The Searchers, for that matter... but the Searchers blu-ray was already far superior to Rio Bravo)

For sure I'll get the individual release of Train Robbers... the first John Wayne western I ever saw (I had seen Longest Day and Brannigan previously but that's it). It may not really be his best but it's a lot of fun with a wonderful twist at the end.

Had they included Chisum instead of, say, Fort Apache, I would be inclined to think that this set is, in a way, a tribute to Duke's later years. But, now, I just think they choose titles randomly.

I'm sure they will release it, but the question is - when?

I don't think Rio Bravo's PQ was bad, in fact I think it was quite passable. However the lack of lossless sound is completely inexcusable on a Bluray!!

The PQ might be the same, but I'll bet anything they give it a lossless track.

I suppose its time for me to sell Rio Bravo, The Searchers and Fort Apache in preparation for this release. At least I'll sell Rio Bravo now as I can still get good money for it being OOP.

I did the same thing when the John Wayne Collection came out a while back, I sold all of the standalones. (Except The Commancheros DigiBook, I had to keep that!!!)

With a big collection and limited space, I have to take advantage of every collection like this to save space!!!
