I work there and they announced at our t.m. huddle that they are indeed closing Target Ticket. The process began earlier this month, but it is unknown when it will be gone for good.

In my opinion, it was nothing like Vudu, which I use all the time. Sure, I did like getting good deals (with my t.m. discount), but the site had some flaws and it didn't live up to my expectations (or anyone elses).

They just made it official on their site now, sucks to have one less UV retailer for competition.

Here is the announcement.

[Show spoiler]

From the FAQ page:

[Show spoiler]important information about your target ticket account

Target has made the decision to end the services offered on Target Ticket and will be focusing efforts on other entertainment offerings. Effective March 7th, 2015, Target Ticket will no longer be accessible on your device applications, gaming consoles, tablets, smartphones or on the web. We value you as a Target guest and apologize for the inconvenience this causes.

What happens to the movies I bought and stored in my digital library?

We've arranged for a new provider, CinemaNow, to provide access to your movies — at no cost to you. Simply log in to https://us.cinemanow.com/ (beginning 3/7/15), use your previous Target Ticket User Name and Password to access your library and agree to allow Target Ticket to share your library with CinemaNow.

Can I still rent movies on Target Ticket?

You’ll still be able to rent movies on Target Ticket until 2/10/15, when the rental functionality is turned off. Any rented titles will stay in your library until you watch them or when Target Ticket is no longer available on 3/7. After that time, you’ll no longer be able to view your rented titles.

Can I still buy discs at Target?

You can continue to buy DVDs and Blu-ray Discs from Target stores or online at Target.com.

What happens to the Target Ticket app on my smartphone, tablet, gaming system smart TV, etc.?

Effective 3/7/15, the apps will have a landing page that will direct you to CinemaNow. However, the apps will become inactive shortly thereafter, so we suggest that you delete the Target Ticket app from your device.

What happens to the credit I currently have in my Target Ticket account?

Your stored credit will be transferred to CinemaNow beginning 3/7/15 and will be available when you sign up with CinemaNow to access your library.

What happens to my payment information stored on Target Ticket?

To protect your privacy, your payment information will not be transferred to CinemaNow. The first time you log into CinemaNow (using your Target Ticket Username/Password), you will need to enter your payment information.

Can I use my REDCard and get 5% off on CinemaNow?

Because CinemaNow is not affiliated with Target, you will not be able to pay with your REDcard.

Can I use the Target Ticket gift card I purchased at Target on CinemaNow?

Target Ticket Gift Cards will not be accepted by CinemaNow. Your Target Gift Cards can still be used for any merchandise purchased in Target stores or on Target.com.

I have a credit code from a product I purchased at Target Ticket or a code for a digital version of a DVD I purchased at Target. Can I use that code on CinemaNow?

Yes, you will be able to use any non-expired code on CinemaNow.

What if I already have a CinemaNow account?

Beginning on 3/7/15, you’ll be able to merge your Target Ticket account into your existing CinemaNow account. All of the movies and TV shows that move from your Target Ticket account will be added to your existing CinemaNow library.

If you have further questions regarding titles purchased through Target Ticket, please contact us at 855-848-8425.

Hahaha. Lol.

Any idiot could see that every retailer with their own stream service wasn't going to work.

I have a couple Target Ticket Exclusive bonus features. I wonder if they will transfer to CinemaNow. (Probably the next service to close).

Target has made the difficult decision to end the services offered on Target Ticket effective March 7, 2015. After that time, Target Ticket will no longer be accessible across all device applications, gaming consoles, tablets, smartphones and the web.
  • If you have rented any movies that you have not yet watched, these movies must be watched prior to March 7, 2015. Starting on this date, they will no longer be available on Target Ticket.
  • Starting March 7, 2015, if you have purchased digital movies/TV shows from Target Ticket, you may access this content on CinemaNow, provided it is also available on CinemaNow. CinemaNow is available at no cost to you. We have partnered with CinemaNow, a leading provider of premium pay-as-you-go digital entertainment, to ensure a smooth and easy transition.
  • If you choose to register with CinemaNow, you must agree to have your library of purchased titles and existing account credits transferred from Target Ticket to CinemaNow in order to maintain access to your titles purchased through Target Ticket. You can transfer your library on or after March 7, 2015.
  • UltraViolet movies purchased through Target Ticket can also be accessed through several other digital movie services.
For additional information, please view our Frequently Asked Questions. You will also receive an email on March 6, 2015 with more information
We thank you for the opportunity to entertain you.
Sincerely,
The Target Ticket Team

I got this email, too. I don't have any movies purchased via Target Ticket, but I'm wondering... for movies that you purchased that aren't available on CinemaNow... you just lose them?

I'm not at all surprised that they're closing their digital movie operations. I had nothing but problems with TargetTicket every time I made a purchase with them. Also, their support is as bad or worse than CinemaNow's support. The only support that I've had really good results is with Vudu.

Agreed. Although of everything, I think I'd trust UV stuff the most. From what I can tell all the UV stuff (except the retailer exclusive) transfers cross-platform because they all sync UV libraries.

ULTRAVIOLET is so popular, I doubt the service will fail, but I don't know because I don't have a digital copy collection.

Ended up getting Illumination 7-Mini-Movie in HD for $7.99.

I have $2.01 credit left over, but I didn't want to spend any real money...LOL.

Now I'm impatiently waiting for it to show up in my VUDU account...

UPDATE: Just as I typed this, it finally showed up (took about 15min or so).

You didn't have to burn your credit, it carries over to CinemaNow with your library which also includes the exclusive featurettes.

My only issue with CinemaNow is they have very few "sales" just promotions and most of the prices are higher than other etailers. Unfortunately, since a Red Card discount won't work anymore, its going to be hard to convince me to buy from CinemaNow on a regular basis.

So I guess I better redeem them before they are gone? The exclusives are either backed by DMA or UV anyway (and my BD). Viewing it once is better than not seeing once at all or waiting for them to show up somewhere.

dunno if the target ticket free khumba promotion is still working, but if someone tries, would they let us know.

you have to manually search for khumba on target ticket, all of the posted target ticket url links are breaking.
https://www.targetticket.com/

Add "Khumba" to your cart
In the discount box put khumbafree
It will deduct $9.99 from the price so SD will be free

I actually got a detailed and specific answer to my question! That is considered very rare when asking customer support anywhere about an unusual question. Their reply is pasted below:

Thanks for contacting Target Ticket Guest Support regarding the transition to CinemaNow. We've received your request and I'm happy to help. I'd like you to know that beginning on March 7th, you’ll be able to merge your Target Ticket account into your existing CinemaNow account. All of the movies and TV shows (both UltraViolet and non-UltraViolet enabled) that are available in your Target Ticket account will be added to your existing CinemaNow library. I'd also like you to know that all exclusive/bonus content will be transferred over to CinemaNow as well and will be available in your account. You can visit https://targetticket.zendesk.com/hc/...iscontinuation for additional details regarding the transition.
