Interesting in his choice of words. I thought this would be a given.
Here's the quick 18 second clip of him updating Spider-man 4: "I'm hoping they come to me first to direct" Last edited by GreenScar; 07-25-2008 at 08:13 AM. |

I believe it wasnt his fault for the catastrophy that was SM3. Wasnt he told to add Venom in the movie? And take Venom out and you have a whole different story. Trust me, Raimi could make the 4th very good

As far as writing it is concerned, I believe it's the same thing for a franchise this big. The studio gives him a bunch of notes for him to include and not include as well as give him a deadline as to when the movie is supposed to be finished, and he's supposed to be creative in writing it. There's only so much creativity you can stretch before it is strained. That's what I think happened with Spidey 3. He could have bailed out of the movie, and may incur a penalty for it, but then he had to live with the fact that whoever replaces him would face the same thing that was shoved down his Inbox and may even do a worse job than him. fuad |

Spiderman 3 was a case of;
Rami thought it was the last one, and wanted it to be bigger and better than the rest, then Sony make him cram Venom into an already bulging plot. They had to make room for Venom and the other story lines suffered because of it. Spiderman 2 along with the Dark Knight is one the best Comic Book films ever made, i know he didn't write it (Alvin Sargent did, who also helped pen Spidey 3) but it proves Rami's worth. I hope they get him back for 4. |

Anyway, I think they are getting the right creative team in for it and I don't think they will do another SM3 style movie. It would spell doom for their expensively bought franchise and pretty much the end of the only profitable franchise Sony have right now. |

as long as they can keep marvel away from it it should be good. marvel was great with iron man, but man did they lose the plane with the incredible hulk. why do they keep making these comic book movies that just shouldn't be greenlit to begin with.

agree with the comments on spiderman 2, it is my favorite spiderman film by far and is one of my favourite super hero movies... i havent seen the dark knight yet, hopefully will next week..
sm3 was a bit of a mess, they had enough going on with Harry and Peter and the venom story.. if anything they should have just left out sandman cause he didnt really add anything of significance to the story.. at least with venom, we had the freaky parker and the affect it had on his relationship with mary jane.. the special effects were amazing in it though, i still love watching the crashing crane scene in HD.. its just so well done.. |

If Venom wasn't included they wouldn't have had to include the second love interest and competing photog storylines allowing them to focus on the uncle/spidey revenge story as well as the goblin revenge storylines. Dual revenge storylines could have provided a mirroring aspect to the two characters that could have resulted in a much more impactful climax.

I liked 1 and especially 2... 3, not so much. I agree - Sandman's character could have been removed and that little emo scene could have, too.

I don't know if Sam is the best choice for Spider-Man 4, I'm just not sure after Spider-Man 3. But what happened to Spider-Man 3 isn't exactly his fault so......I just don't know lol. I think he will still be part of it and be a little involved.

I believe in my heart that everything less then stellar in 3 happened in a boardroom first. I doubt very highly that Raimi woke up one day and said "hmmm....we need pseudo-evil DISCO MANIA here!!! That'll put asses in the seats!!!" It just doesn't add up. I just want to know what they are going to do for Stan Lee's Cameo in this one. |
