Tsui Hark's Seven Swords is out now in Blu Ray and what a difference from the regular DVD. This 153 minute classic is simply breath taking with colors and detail that I had never noticed before. The 6.1 Dolby Digital sound rivets you to your chair, and it is loaded with extra features including four shooting diaries, tape from the Hong Kong Premier, audio commentary with Tsui Hark (with english subtitles), and a gorgeous photo gallery that you simply want to go on and on. The disc is Region A. What a find, what a film!

It's also riddled with grain. For people that don't like that sort of thing.

I'm watching this in the next few days. I watched Warlords over the weekend and was pleased with the film. The transfer is very good and the movie was an interesting blend of romance and action. The only thing I didn't really like was at the very end

This is on a BD-50 right? The movie is too long to fit on a BD-25.

Seven Swords was a big disappointment (the movie) i couldnt justify buying the bd.. and ive knowingly made a lot of purchases of bad movies

I wouldn't say it was a disappointment, for me at least. It certainly wasn't a chinese epic. It is an entertaining sword fighting movie that revolves around seven swords of mythical power. It is apparently based off of a book that is popular in China. I enjoyed the movie and would recommend it to any fan of modern chinese wire-fu choreography.

Be warned the villians in the film reminded me heavily of those in Conan the Barbarian.

The problem is that it's been severely cut down from Tsui Hark's original edit, which has never been released.

It's DTS HD MA 7.1 also... most Chinese release are!

(or PCM 7.1 in certain cases)
