I was going to stay out of this but since you brought power conditioning into the mix I'll chime in. I use Panamax units, I'm not a particular fan of Monster units. That still isn't even a close comparison. Being an electrician I see, on an oscope what the power looks like in an average residential environment. Trust me when I say it is not pretty.

what kind of Surge Protector do you guys use, Do you buy it from Monoprice?
or do you buy the monster power?
Well, considering the number of people on this forum, AVS, HDD, and a few others that recommend Monoprice and Blue Jeans Cable I have exactly 0 doubt about my decision to forgo being raped by Monster Cable. Because, let's be honest, that's exactly what they are doing.

I would rather buy a good brand cable company to use for my nearly $20K home theater system. However, I wouldnt spend $100 for a 6ft Monster Cable at Circuit City or Best Buy but look elsewhere for a lower price like on ebay. These Monoprice cables are made in China sweat shops. If I can afford to pay a few more dollars for a Monster Cable so be it.
that is exactly what i am trying to say. i think your comparisson was better then mine

This is just an outright lie... I tried to hang up my coat with Monster CAbles and it didn't work worth a crap

But lets add it up, I have a power amp and processor (5 RCA type cables), a DVD/SACD player (6 RCA type cables and HDMI Cable), PS3 (HDMI CAble), CAble Box (HDMI CAble), Sub woofer (2 RCA type cables), TV (HDMI Cable)

I do not suggest to pay $1 each for every cable but if I choose to go the route of Monster cable over Blu-Jean or Monoprice, I most likely drop over $1000 on up depending on what ones I choose.

I'd rather having used that to by a better TV or chosen better speakers then on the cable.

After all, what most likely sounds better given you were choosing the same brand of speakers: $1000 speakers with $200 cables or upgrade to their next lever $1190 speakers with $10 cables? But I have had stores try to convince me this same thing time after time, over spend on the cables when you could use the money to by the next level up component many times.

Explain to me what those are and how they make your cable worth 98 dollars more.

^^ do you even know what all that means?

I work for CC also, and you give the other associates a bad name! I personally, use the CC brand Nexxtech cables. Our discount on those is nice, and they work just fine. Tried a Monster 700 and saw no difference, so returned it.

Just give it up, you have no valid arguement and are a lifer for CC that needs to go and get in bed with schoonover.

we get a 65% discount on monster and you went with nextech????

and i know what that stuff is i am just curious to know if it has it and of course you saw no difference with the Monster 700 that is a 60hz 8bit cable that does not support Loseless audio and the speed on that is what 4.95 gps?

Speed is important 10.95 GPS with Monster 1000

X.V Color: gives 1.8 million more colors then RGB

and the 12 bit is also for color

you must not work in TV's... probably you help people find DVD's or CD's

and it was a simple quesion if the Monoprice cable had it so do not give me that crap about giving Circuit City a bad name since you bought a $50 nextech cable that is worse then the one on Monoprice

lol i would not work at Circuit City for the rest of my life.. I am 19 and going to college and i will admit that I do not know everything and this is just a temp job

Why not review the results of the tests on one of the links previously provided:

http://www.audioholics.com/education...esting-results

It seems to provide the details of how most of the brands stack up on your first 2 questions as well as show some of the much cheaper brands that past tests that Monster failed at.

I am not a Monoprice customer as they don't sell them over here. I will admit to having a few Monster cable interconnects in my system from many years ago but wouldn't waste my money on them these days.

no its not what the back of the package tells me. I actually do research I went to a Monster convetion and although it is only a temp job I like to be good at what i do and its important to have product knowledge. If i do not do research and do not feel confident in what i am selling i would not feel like i am giving the customer the whole HD "Journey".

listen i dont want to argue with you on a forum. You can buy all the nextech cables in the world for all i care. I now know on paper the Monster and the Monoprice HDMI look pretty similar. When i get my cable in 3-5 days i will tell you how i feel about Monster products vs Monoprice porducts.

and BTW you never answered do you work in TV/Audio?

i thought he did lol my bad i wasnt reading the names...

i like the Onkyo 605 bought it refurbished with a 3year for $299 usually hesitant on buying refurbished electronics but it worked out well and thank god it alread had the latest firmware because if it did not i had to take it to a store.but the receiver is cool the only 2 things i dont like is the 2 hdmi input and no1080i upscaling but other then that it is great

the speakers are good and the setup was cake with the audessey setup.
the speakers are usually $199 at Fry's but i bought them from Amazon for $269.99 and the banana cables made it easy and the sound hooked up to my ps3 with DTS 5.1 HD is amazing!!!!!!

the two add on speakers for this unit are the Polk Rm6751 they run $53 a piece and i think i will get that in the near future..

but to answer your question it is a really good setup and i would strongly recommend it
