Cool movie, hopefully Optimum Home Entertainment do it justice - wait for a review before buying

Definitely. They've changed specs on a few of their releases quite a few times since announcing them.

So, is the transfer for the Optimum Blu superior to the Universal Region 1 Blu?

I do have this edition and to me it looks and sounds great.
Btw, Pro-B reviewed this movie a while ago.

I regret buying this. Not because of PQ but because of it being the shorter cut. When I watched it, I sorely missed the additional footage, not sure if I could watch this disc again. I want a HD director's cut. And yes, the UK bd does have superior PQ to the region A release.

You'd have to pry the HK Dir Cut DVD from my cold dead fingers

Will probably be my only DVD left in the collection soon if they don't stump up the cash for a BD of the longer cut...Stingy basts!!

Is the PQ a noticeable difference, or just a bit better?

I ask because the screwhead edition is $10 right down the road from me, but if the UK blu is really that much better...I'll probably import it.

Thanks!

^The screenies from the US edition look very dull and filtered to me. The UK BD I have presents a colorful, grain-layered image. The scenes of optical effects are of course going to be problematic everywhere,.

Does this not include everything that was on the 2 disc UK DVD ? I've not checked the back of the box (at work, not at home) I'm sure it included an extended cut?

Thanks

I remember seeing different endings. One
[Show spoiler]where Ash is back at S-Mart and another but I can't remember, been ages/years sine I watched the two versions.

Does this BLu include it all, apart from the DC being in SD, is this Blu 'definitive' as in all extras and verisions included. I also recall a US boomstick DVD which had different ending to the UK ones? Or am I thinking wrong?

I honestly don't see much of a difference there between the UK and US blus. Is it just me?

I already have the Boomstick DVD which has all of the extras on the UK Blu, but the Screwhead Edition has a new HD featurette....kinda leaning towards the US version now.

The R3 MGM DVD is the definitive version of the film

fully uncut (the AB is missing a few shots), a better transfer (taken from the 35mm print instead of video tape like AB did) and a better 5.1 soundtrack

I don't recall what extras were on the UK dvd. I had the 2 disc version but I don't have it here. Here I only have the UK DVD that was in the trilogy set.
I think the extras on the blu are the same as that one.

The only extras on the blu-ray (other than the DC) are the 4 deleted scenes, a trailer and the commentary on the DC. so there are a couple of things missing.
It's also 1.85:1 as compared to 1.66:1 on the DVD
