Default One and Done: What percentage of your collection will you most likely NEVER revisit?

You watched it, you liked it (or not), and now it's time to move ahead to that next movie or TV show. So, realistically, because of time restrictions or lack of interest, how many titles do you have on your shelf that you'll most likely never watch again? Sometimes, it's hard enough getting through your unwatched pile. So, be honest, which ones are you never going to watch again?

If I watch something once (whether I liked it or hated it) and am sure I'm not going to rewatch it again, I'll put it up for sale within the next few days. There's been a handful of times where I've bought back movies I'd previously sold, but that's not something that happens often.

Probably 50 percent of my blind buys were regrettable so I never blind buy anymore. Having cleared those out, all 300+ of my blu rays will be viewed again.

Try not to buy anything that going to watch once. Did recently blind buy two movies. Turned out didn't like them that much, but was able to trade them off. Netflix helps with this cause if don't like it after watching their disc then I'm not out anything.

Take American Hustle. Paid about $8. Watched it once and will never revisit it.

I can't think of any that I will never watch again. Even if that was the case, it would be the release/format and not the movie/show itself.

Less so with my BDs, but I have a ton of foreign films and TV shows on DVD that I won't watch again. I loved Barney Miller and Taxi, but I'll never watch those shows again when I've got at least 30 TV shows to catch up on. I've never seen The Wire, Deadwood, Orphan Black, Firefly, Battlestar Gallactica, etc. With that much to watch, there's no time to keep revisiting a whole collection BDs.

Lately, the new releases I've purchased all have digital copies...if I have gotten a Blu-ray and decided it is doubtful I will watch it again, I keep the digital copy and put the physical copy for sale on Amazon or eBay. If things change, I always have the digital copy to fall back on...

With some of the big collections on here I thought more would be chiming in with an actual amount...

I would say 5-8% of my collection won't get watched again. I blind buy a lot of stuff that I feel I should view at least once in my life (ex: Gone With the Wind, Halloween, Criterion titles). I can appreciate their significance to film history but I don't like them enough to watch again. The collector in me still can't part with this kind of stuff so I just keep it in my collection.

No because I don't blind buy. I see the film or TV show before I decide to buy. If it s good enough for me to watch again and again then I buy. That's why I don't have a lot of foreign films in my collection (I have seen about 75% of the Criterion Collection) because most of them while they may be good films I know I will not ever revisit. I can pretty much only watch subtitled films once maybe twice and that's about it for me except for those rare few that I do own.

None. The rare occasions where I've watched a movie and didn't care to watch it again, I sold it (ie Secretariat after I got it from the DMC for $4)

Off the top of my head I won't be re watching : Birdman, Fear, Hobo With A Shotgun, Angel...there's more too, most of which I have up for trade...sometimes things are blind buys that I buy on others recommendations and sometimes, like Fear, it's something I saw when I was young and liked but on revisiting the movie it just doesn't have the same effect anymore.

I have no idea. I don't buy movies expressly intending to watch them multiple times. The point of my collection is to have a large selection to at any given time when I want to watch a movie I'm going to be able to find something to watch.

I've combed my records and rechecked my figures and the closest I can get to an actual amount is 'who the hell knows'

I find it rather amusing to hear someone say that they're sure they won't want to watch something again....

how do you know that?

You may change your mind a few years later... maybe there's a new big star that had a small role in the film and you want to check it out again, maybe all your friends are raving about a film that you thought was meh but now you need to watch it again, etc etc etc

I would think the odds of you blind buying a film that you absolutely despise are relatively low, it sure has been rare for me....

Yup. I've bought stuff I'm reasonably sure I'm not going to like (The Happening, comes to mind) because I want to check it out for myself. I've also bought stuff I've seen and didn't care for because this, that or the other thing has made me want to give it another look. I still don't like The Departed but I'm glad I own in.

I have a bunch of discs I'd be willing to sacrifice as part of some future upgrade and save program but if the rebate is only a few bucks I have a lot more so-called one-and-dones I'd be a little reluctant to let go of because you just never know.
