I ordered two items last week from Amazon. They were The Sound Of Music 50th Anniversary 5 disk blu ray and Michael Jackson's This is it blu ray. The Michael Jackson said sold by Newbury Comics but fullfied by Amazon. The good news was how fast this order came. It was ordered last Wed. shipped on Thursday and delivered on Saturday. I used free shipping and am not a prime member so I thought I would have to wait a bit before I got it.
The bad news. When I got my package yesterday neither were in pristine condition and ordered as new. The Sound of Music the outer slip looks like someone had tried to scribble on the box, that is frustrating to me. On the Michael Jackson This Is It blu ray there is no slip (wasn't supposed to come with one). The outside paper and plastic covering of Michael was ripped in half so I ended up taping it. Have other people experienced ripping or blu rays not coming in good condition? I am just frustrated since I paid for these items and was hoping they would come in good condition since I ordered them as new. That is why I prefer getting blu ray's in stores (unfortunately the store selection of blu rays are very small in terms of the selections they offer. it's just how it is, as most retailers and even customers don't value packaging as much as a collector.
Most people care more about what they save in shipping and Amazon is happy to oblige. Bestbuy sends blurays in a vacuum sealed vinyl bag with zero padding. Great protection when blurays are already cursed with cheap eco cases. Target damages things with the spider wrap shit. Goes on and on. |

You do this all the time. It doesn't look like you're trying to be helpful so much as trying to look better than everybody else. And even if there is a similar thread from a couple of years before, there's nothing wrong with fresh conversation. If threads need to be merged, that's the job of a moderator.

the only time I got a damaged case from Amazon was a couple months ago I ordered Cape Fear on Bluray along with some bookshelf speaker stands. For some reason they put both items in one big box and of course the bluray case was shattered, the disc was fine but I emailed Amazon and they sent me a new one.

And what is wrong with having "fresh conversation" on a topic while having similar/identical previous conversation as reference? It can't hurt any. In fact, it can only help. ![]() |

I'm glad I just throw slip covers away.
The last one was that stupid plastic thing Mockinjay came in. It was fine. Target has been sending in paperboard heat wrap. When I order from Target, most stuff is postmarked from Indy. So short trip. Amazon typically comes from Louisville. |

I mean the responses are basically going to be: Yeah I hate that Yeah happened to me too Yeah, Amazon sucks I love Amazon, never happened to me I had packages shipped poorly but the items were perfect+ I tell them to ship in boxes, they don't That's why I buy in stores Amazon gave me credit I had to return stuff etc.. There's nothing fresh about any of that. People either relate to a certain degree or they don't. What exactly will the OP get from that? Reassurance that he isn't alone with having a package arrive imperfectly? He should already know that. This is merely a thread designed to make the op feel less shitty about his situation, instead of perhaps addressing the problem directly with Amazon (which right now we have to assume he hasn't since there's zero mention of that). |

I like it. Damage just gives my collection character, like scars do people. Plus if my shit gets stolen, I can spot it from the distinct damage.
.... That's what I'd say if I had to argue that side in a debate or something. Finding lost or stolen by damage could be a possibility, but I'd rather not have damaged stuff to get stolen in the first place, like probably 100% of collectors. |
