"Grail" Slipcover? Fact, Fiction, OR just plain Urban Legend? - Blu-ray Forum

Hi everyone!
So that's my Question for Y'all.
I've been Collecting for quite a while now & I'm almost finished with getting every slipcover that I've been wanting & searching for.

Considering what I just wrote. Do you believe that there are still such things as a "Grail Slipcover"; in other words, THE mythical white Unicorn"? If so,
Please explain what Slipcover it is that has eluded & frustrated you?
If not, then please explain why you believe this Notion is pure "Hoakum"?

Nope, the only slip that is rare is the one that a person wants and can not get.

The Target exclusive black-border slip for Inglorious Basterds. That's the only slip I've ever wanted that I've never even seen for sale online or I'm the wild, just one crappy little picture on one of the forums here. It is my white whale.

Dreamgirls with gold AA slipcover was it for a while. Only 3 or so were to known to this forum. I had one and sold it for big bucks.

Not sure if that Reds gold AA slipcover exists or if it's just a mock-up from the studio. I've never seen an actual photograph. That could be the mythical unicorn slip.

i landed one of those in a miscellaneous blu-ray lot i bought on ebay 2 years ago, tossed it in a mixed pile and sold it as bulk. i've only seen 1 on ebay since, and it was tore UP.

i find it funny that a release as big as Basterds has such a genuinely hard to find exclusive. the black looks worse than the red, by a long shot, but you'll find a hundred of the black swan black/red covers before you find one black basterd.

Your not looking hard enough then. 2 sold last month at auctions that started at $20 and only had 1 bidder.

Been after the Drive Futureshop slip going on four years now. It still illudes me thanks to me not wanting to shell out $100+ for it.

Nope, I pretty much have all the rare ones I am looking for.

Now just making sure I have all the Disney ones. I stop hunting for slips when they started jumping the out like babies.
I mean there are a few out there I never got but I'm not paying the prices that people want for them.
Back in the day a hard to get slip wasn't more then $10. And people were willing to trade slips toward that price. Now people are all greedy and want $20 or more for slips. So that right there is another reason I don't collect them as much.

Ah crap

hopefully another copy goes on sale. I've been getting really lucky at FYEs the past few months so I'm kinda hoping I can find one for $10 there like I did the the BB exclusive Bonus Disc. Just can't bring myself to pay more than maybe $20 for a slip.

Silence of the Lambs has at least two slips. A comic con one and the Academy one that is a gatefold.

Zodiac in the US doesn't have one irrc, but I know the UK has a slipbox for it I think.

I had picked up a bunch of those when it first came out and amazingly, haven't seen a single one pop up used since. Damn near everything else I've seen at least once, even some rare steelbooks a few times at used shops in Winnipeg & Calgary. Ah well.. I'm not sure how many were made, likely between 3,000-5,000.

There was a guy around here back, like, 2 years ago, who wanted $25 shipped for the slip, and I decided not to buy it. I was absurdly wrong, of course.

It's been in my wishlist since forever. One day I'll get it.
