Obviously most of these films aren't getting restored in any way, so it's hardly ideal either. But for the most part, with the licensed films it's either dump to 3rd party or get nothing. Anyway I bought this Poltergeist II I believe for $5 at Best Buy at one point. May have to sell that one and get the double feature, just for completionist sake. |

Poltergeist III is pretty bad, even on a technical level with it's clumsy and rushed ending using a stand in for Heather O'Rourke. The entire cast is unsympathetic and basically takes a huge dump all over Heather's character, for whatever reason.
It's the anti-Poltergeist movie in my opinion, a weird abomination lacking heart and soul. Yet I still own it to complete the series ![]() |

Glad to see III is getting a stand alone release since I already own II on BD.
I own a lot of movies that I hate to complete the collection. Before the Scream Factory release, I owned Halloween 3 & 6 just to complete the collection even though I hate those movies. |

That sounds identical to the Japanese Blu-ray of Part III. I believe it also comes with a trailer.

I concur. I revisted both back to back a couple months ago and while III is somewhat redeemed by some mirror/doppelganger shennanies that remain genuinely creepy, II, taken as a whole, is quite possibly one of the shittiest movies I've ever seen, and I've seen a metric ton of garbage.

![]() Never liked II much for some reason, so hadn't seen it for many years. Decided to revisit the film in HD a while back. Although Julian Beck is pretty creepy and effective in the role, I thought the movie was dreadful, way worse than I remembered. Last edited by JackForrester; 03-22-2015 at 11:12 PM. |

Whoa, I'm surprised by all the Poltergeist II hate! It doesn't quite live up to the original, no, but it's still a good film in its own right. For me it's in the same category as such films as Freddy's Revenge and RoboCop 2: inferior sequels which are dark and weird enough to be of interest.

And never really liked Freddy's Revenge. I'd only watch it for the gay subtext and the coach's bare ass ![]() My favorite Freddy sequel is definitely Dream Warriors. Hail Patricia Arquette ![]() |

Poltergeist II isn't particularly good, but it's got some great sequences (the tequila worm monster), Reverend Kane, and outré sensibilities in the plot department. The novelization based on the original script is better than the movie itself.
Poltergeist III is shit. O'Rourke is awful in it, it was chopped to bits in the editing room, and the script that made it to the screen consisted of 90 minutes of idiots shrieking "Carol Anne!" It's fun in a guilty sort of way, though, and I always laugh at the sudden disappearance of Scott due to the haphazard reshoots. |
