Activision says "The PS3 will beat the 360 this year" - Blu-ray Forum

After the EA news on the PS3 games contributing the most to their revenues, that's going to induce some teeth grinding at MS I think

In a conference call following the June quarter earnings release from Activision, Activision Publishing CEO Mike Griffith provided his company's own forecast for how the console wars would turn out in 2008. While Nintendo is still the big winner, Activision does think Sony will edge out Microsoft this year.

The Wii is forecast to sell 15 million units in 2008, compared to 8 million units for the PS3 and 6-7 million units for the Xbox 360. And Sony's PS2, which after all these years is still thriving, is expected to sell a total of 4-5 million units this year.

Additionally, while Griffith did not provide a breakdown for PSP versus Nintendo DS, he did state that the portable market will see unit sales of more than 24 million.

Well I certainly hope it is the case though I have to mention that after a few weeks of the PS3 outselling the 360, the 360 is again selling more than it's rival. Especially in America

That's not really all that surprising considering that the PS3 has been outselling the 360 for awhile now. Majorly so worldwide.

The ps3 has a shortage to get ready for the new 80gigs, sony is not shipping out anymore 40gigs. i saw none at my BB a couple days ago.

and dont forget the 360 has a price drop of 299.

VGChartz is crap. People have been warning against using their numbers for a LONG time. It's kind of strange to see people still quoting it as truth or even an indicator of truth.

Charts showing the past are fine, because they usually go over the proper numbers use that data. Their weekly predictions are just that.

i cant believe the wii is selling this good. there is hardly any game on it that interests me. the ps3 has too many triple A titles coming out this holiday season that it is expected to pull ahead of the 360. and being the only console that can play blu rays sure doesnt hurt either

I think the other observations were right-- I was thinking it was due to the 360's price drop, which always causes a bump in sales, but I didn't know the system was hard to find. If it is, that'd definitely have some effect. Let's not forget the boost the system will get later in the year when some big titles like Littlebigplanet come out, too. I doubt GOW2 will make much of a boost for 360-- probably most of the people who want that game already have the system and played the first one...

I still can't believe the Wii is selling so well, it is an absolute piece of sh*t. I bought one, played it for about 2 days and sold it.

In an interview a read some time ago, this person described it as a virus. One person goes over to another's house and plays it for a little while. Then, they go and buy one. Rinse and repeat. Supposedly, they don't play it much at all...just when new people come buy. It's just long enough to infect the next host.
