Default Onkyo 606 power shutdown issue

So I just got my Onkyo 606 today and was super excited to set it up. I unplugged a Sony 510 that I was using and plugged in my 5.1 polk system, playstation 3 and connected it to my projector. I powered the system on and began the audio calibration. When it got to the second speaker, the whole system shut down. I looked through the manual and it said the amp protection circuit was activated and to keep it unplugged for an hour. I did so, and when I tried it again, the same thing happened. Anyone know whats going on, or do I need to exchange it?

one of your speaker wires is incorrect or is touching something it shouldn't be.

Go item by item in the chain of equipment to find what is causing the problem. Most likely you have something connected wrong like Crackinhedz said.

Yea I went speaker by speaker and it was one of my cables. Thanks guys, I just got done rewatching Casino Royale; so much better with my new receiver and surround speakers. Time to rewatch all my movies again .
