Default Prince of Persia moved back a year

Quote:
Walt Disney Pictures has moved the Jerry Bruckheimer-produced Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time out of its June 19, 2009 release date spot (which would have been a week before Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen is opening) and has pushed it back almost a year to May 28, 2010, which is the week after Shrek Goes Fourth is scheduled and a week before Marvel Studios' Thor.

With Memorial Day being observed on May 31, 2010, the movie would have a four day opening, unless it debuts earlier in the week.

The Mike Newell-directed video game adaptation stars Jake Gyllenhaal, Gemma Arterton, Alfred Molina and Ben Kingsley. Gyllenhaal will play Dastan, a young prince in sixth century Persia who must join forces with Tamina (Arterton), a feisty and exotic princess, to prevent a villainous nobleman from possessing the Sands of Time, a gift from the gods that can reverse time and allow its possessor to rule the world.

DO you mean Wolverine? Because Watchmen comes out March 6th. It will be out until mid April, doesnt clash with any summer movie

Oh, well okay put Wolverine in there as it will do some major box office damage as well! It was probably Transformers 2 they wanted to get away from.

If they are just worried about Transformers and Wolverine, well then you move the film a couple weeks forward or backward, maybe even a month or two. You don't move it an entire year. That signals production problems and that it needs more time which is probably a good thing since they are still almost a year out now and they are smart enough to make the call.

Putting it the week between Shrek and Thor is a bad idea it will have many of the same target audience and Shrek is pretty much a $300 million movie and Thor is guaranteed $100 movie and could be a $200-$300+ depending on peoples response to Iron Man 2 which would be Marvels 4th movie which the first 2 have been very well reviewed.

I would think that Disney is expecting this to be close to as successful as the Pirates movies were so 300+ million the chances of that happening if they put it between those movies decrease.

Here is what was in June:
JUNE
5

The Fast and the Furious 4
12
The A-Team
Nowhereland
19
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time
Year One
26
Transformers 2

They should have moved it up a week but now by moving it Buena Vista (Disney) does not have any movie releasing next June.

Pixar's Up is scheduled for May 29th, at least.

and Terminator on the 22nd.

I didn't find this as a surprise seeing as they haven't even started to film yet.

Agree with your post 100%. I'd rather them try and put out quality than try and rush a production and put out crap (to put it in simple terms).
