Johnny Depp as the Riddler? - Page 5 - Blu-ray Forum

There is a post on here somewhere on the site with an article where David Goyer and Jonathan Nolan were asked about the next villian. They both stated 70 years of Batman has given quite a number of villians. Based on the article I would say there will be no Penguin, and no Catwoman. I think Johnny Depp could play a good Riddler, but I'd like to see someone else play the role someone not quite so famous, that can really pull it off. I don't want to see another Jim Carey Riddler. Joel Schumacher really messed up the Batman franchise.... Christopher Nolan has done great with the new Batman franchise. Christian Bale is the best Batman....

Hmmm who to play The Riddler.... how about, hmmmm Jake Gyllenhaal, and we get James Purefoy to play Hush he would work well at being the same age as Bruce Wayne..... check this out....

Dr. Thomas Elliot was a childhood friend of Bruce Wayne. Like Bruce Wayne, Elliot was born into a wealthy family. Unlike Wayne, however, Elliot hated his parents. Driven by his desire for independence and wealth, he cut the brakes on his parents' car, causing a crash that killed his father. His mother was saved in an emergency operation by Dr. Thomas Wayne, which enraged young Elliot. His anger was fueled further by the subsequent murder of the Waynes, which put Bruce Wayne in just the situation Elliot had hoped to create for himself. Elliot's mother later succumbed to cancer, leaving him with the family fortune. Although he went on to Harvard and became a successful surgeon, Elliot continued to hold an irrational grudge towards his childhood friend.

At some point in his career, Elliot became the doctor of Edward Nigma (also known as the Riddler). Nigma, diagnosed with terminal cancer, eventually hijacked one of Ra's al Ghul's Lazarus pits to regain his health. During this mystical treatment, which renders the participant temporarily insane, the highly intelligent Nigma experienced an unexpected epiphany, realizing that Bruce Wayne was Batman. After discovering that they had a common hatred for Bruce Wayne, Elliot and the Riddler decided to pool resources to bring him down. To this end, Elliot created for himself the persona of Hush.

I think this could work very well....Do some tweaking to the story above to make it work in Nolan's vision of Batman and I think you've got a winner....

Paul Bettany-Yes, he would make a great riddler!

Philip Seymore Hoffamn-Yes, great Penguin

Jennifer Connolly- Yes, perfect and sexy for Catwoman!

I am more concerned with Martin Freeman becoming Bilbo Baggins (The Hobbit)!!

Another push for Bettany by me again, is that he wont steal the camera he'ld mesh into the film with the rest of the cast well (unlike Depp who would surely attract all the attention)

Instead of depp....why not get a up and coming actor...or a no name to play riddler? or whatever villian they use?

Sometimes i like a new face...thats just me tho

even though depp would make a great riddler. i would prefert fresh faces a la heath ledger r.i.p. i think ryan reynolds would make a good riddler even though he has been around and is not a fresh face but if he could combine the charcter from amittyville and blade trinity he would be perfect

I think Johnny Depp could could be a great riddler. Another actor who could make the character really dark could be Viggo Mortensen.

Ya know, my girlfriend and I were thinking what they could do for a villain in the next batman movie when we got out of Dark Knight. The first thing I thought was the riddler played by JDepp. It's really the only thing I can think of that would even be half as good as Ledgers Joker.

Im sorry but this is sooooo effin stupid. This really cracked me up. I didnt even know ryan reynolds name until you mentioned it and was like who is this guy talking about? And then I googled ryan reynolds and when I saw his face I laughed my ass off. He is a terrible actor and doesnt deserve to be in anything ever again. CASE CLOSED. RANT OVER.
