Default Oldboy 3 disk tin or Blu?

Do they both have the exact same features? I was thinking about picking it up for my birthday on saturday.

Default Blu

Go with the blu ray. This flick is pure eye candy and it looks great on blu. Some of the best audio out there as well. The only thing missing on the blu is the documentary of them making the film. The 3rd disc of the tin is about 150 minutes of them making the movie, a sort of auto biography if you will. I've only watched about an hour of it, the blu disc has tons of extras though and you won't be disapointed!!!!

I'd grab "Old Boy" on Blu-ray now. Tartan has folded and there is no guarantee it will be available much longer. I also bought a couple of Tartan imports "The Seventh Seal" and "Paranoid Park" just in case.

Hehe

Actually OldBoy is part 2 of a thematic trilogy. Part 1 is Sympathy for Mr Vengeance and Part 3 is Lady Vengeance.

And to the orginal poster, yeah the Blu-ray is missing extras and not just the doco. Thats why I burned copied of my DVDs and keep them in the jacket as extras discs for the blu-ray.

Personally what i would have done is I would have removed the DVD movie disc from the Tin, and replaced it with the blu-ray disc. So the Blu-ray disc has the cool tin case and the bonus discs in one.

I don't have the tin set though.... I intended to buy it but when i heard rumors of it coming out on blu-ray I didn't.

That tin set did look nice. I'm hardcore enough to want the documentary disk.

If you are in any way interested in filmmaking, the Oldboy documentary is REALLY really cool. It goes through the entire production day by day and has WAY more info than most making of docs. Its billed as a production diary, as thats really what it is - no real talking heads or anything.

That being said, the Blu is a slight PQ upgrade and a huge AQ upgrade.

I've just replaced the movie disk in the tin with my Blu.

Hey guys.

Im really confused with this film.
Some peeps seem to think the transfer was amazing.

For me it's bar far the worst transfer ive seen. its flat, grainy, almost standard definition.

What am i missing here?

There is no way this can even hold a candle to the likes of DK or Kill Bill or Wall-e

You seriously find special features more important than having the movie itself in the best PQ and AQ??

EDIT: Just realized how old this thread is. Hopefully the OP knows better now.

It's supposed to look gritty. You can't hold every transfer to the same standard, durrrr.

Definitely the tin. That's the only reason I won't upgrade. The tin is probably the best special edition that I have and I just love the case.
