Default Anchor Bay will join the HD revolution

I sent them an email and this is the reply I just received:

Quote:
Yes, Anchor Bay will join the new HD revolution - but nothing set in stone as to which titles or release dates.

Hi,

Can you tell me if your company has any plans to release movies on either Blu-ray, HD DVD, or both?
And if so, do you have an estimated release date for them?

Thanks in advance for your reply,
Chad
They say yes to HD but don't specify format even though I intentionally listed both. Well at least they're getting into HD. That's what counts most.

Anchor Bay has made several deals with many different companies, including Universal, so they may hedge their bets until they find out which format wins out (or at least becomes more dominant).

As long as we get a true uncut remastered release of The Army of Darkness Director's Cut like Hong Kong got on DVD, I'll be happy.

Yeah I suspect a lot of the smaller video distributors will wait until there's one format left standing or until both are proven successes.

Also, it will be cheaper to enter the market once it has been more established, and then they can jump in with their flagship releases (Halloween, Evil Dead) and make a killing (pun not intended).
