This is confusing me... The listing at Best Buy mentions this as being a Starz / Anchor Bay disc. If this is the Spring I'm thinking of, it's a Drafthouse release - and I'd be surprised to see them going the retailer-exclusive route.

It's also listed on Anchor Bay's website:

I guess Drafthouse ditched Cinedigm? Not a terribly big surprise if that's the case. I've got this covered through my Alliance subscription, so I'm not too concerned but that sure is interesting.

Wow, that's a surprise! I've kept my Alliance membership running since they first offered it, so hopefully there won't be any changes there. I'll admit to being rather surprised to see them aligned with Starz / Anchor Bay.

Alliance is separate from whatever agreements Drafthouse Films goes to for distributing the film. At a minimum they've already confirmed that Spring will go out to Alliance members in June.

Personally, I think this listing on Best Buy is premature or incorrect. Best Buy might be the only major brick & mortar to get the film, but unless there's been some major changes at Drafthouse it will hardly be a "best buy exclusive"

I noticed Filmbuff is listed on the poster. They distribute through Anchor Bay so it looks like they held onto home video rights.

Also had a follow up question, and it will still be in the clear-plastic case with reversible artwork! Awesome!

Ok......so was this some super low budget/indie movie? I've never heard of it, or even seen it listed or talked about ANYWHERE!

Is this worth a blind buy? The poster alone has me intrigued. From the synopsis I read, it sounds like it has a sort of a Horns vibe to it, am I way off base?

Spring has been generating buzz on sites which discuss indie movies for a few months now. Resolution, the previous film by Justin Benson and Aaron Moorehead was super low budget, this one is just low budget, which means they had a large enough budget for location shoots in Europe.

It's not much like Horns IMO.

I would agree with this. Besides Horns not being very good, tonally it was very different from Spring and what it was trying to achieve.

Check out TheDissolve for a really glowing and well-written review. I watched it because of that review.

Benson and Moorehead said they wanted an excuse to shoot in Europe, and they ended up with this particular town because it was the cheapest place they could find.

I know some folks who saw this at Fantastic Fest back in September and haven't shut up about it since

It's on VOD if you want to check it out. I personally thought it was great for the first two thirds and thought the last act was pretty darn bad, but it's well worth watching if you like supernatural romance sorts of things that are much more horrific than the likes of Twilight.

I'd definitely say this is a romance story first and foremost. Followed by a creature feature.
