Didn't see a thread for this, just released in Japan on 3-27-15. Any chance anybody has it or plans to get it? Would like to hear PQ review before ordering.

The company releasing it is Kadokawa Entertainment, anybody familiar with them?

Nice to see I'm not the only one wanting this Jeff Bridges & Farrah Fawcett mystery caper. I was obsessed with the film when I was a little kid.

I am seriously considering getting it, but can not find one thing about it. I just hope it is not some bad port from some weird source. Plus the BD cover shows the wrong year of release, it was 1978, not 1979. It was shown on TV starting in 1979, so I hope this is not some TV broadcast source.

Anyone?

I wouldn't mind watching it again on Blu-ray some day!

Amazon Japan has a couple of user reviews posted. I'm relying on Google translate so I can't really tell, but it doesn't sound like the video is too great. Can anyone offer better insight/ translation?

I got this today and just finished watching. The good news is that it's not sourced from a VHS tape. It's not the greatest looking blu-ray, but certainly the best and only way to get the film right now. It's been so long since I've seen it and my basis of comparison would be once in the theater and the rest on tv, which would have been full screen and (gasp) a CRT tv, so I don't have much to compare!

They have tried to make a decent release though. It's in the OAR with a somewhat clean print with grain. Some shots are more than decent though, but dark scenes are problematic. Not horrible, but not great either. Just ok. Since the film is shot entirely in NYC and during the Christmas season, the clothes have quite a bit of detail and texture, as well as Fawcett's famous hair. Jeff Bridges sports a thick beard and detail is ok. Not sure if they did post process, but it could be.

If you like the film, there is no reason not to get and enjoy this! The case is the usual blue and there is a booklet with lot's of nice production photos, it's about 10 pages. All text seems to be in Japanese though. Still very nice, they did put an effort into this release. Let me know if you have any questions.

I'm guessing you would've mentioned it, but just to be clear: this is the theatrical version and not some edited- for-TV cut, right?

It's the theatrical version. And a couple other things...the booklet insert (which is smaller than the blu ray case) is actually more like 20 pages of photos and Japanese text. The audio is 2.0 and a bit harsh/tinny. They included a Trailer, but a Japanese version and it looks hideous...be glad the release handled the main film so much better! I attached the back cover scan and a scan of the booklet.
Oooh....I guess the site resized the back cover. I did submit it for upload on the main Overview page for this title.

I just stumbled across this playing on Shout TV! I wonder if it means there might be a chance this gets a release on disc from them.

I just stumbled across it on Tubi after reading your post here the other day. I started watching it last night and couldn’t make it more than a half-hour. I’ll watch basically anything with Jeff Bridges in it but this was just shockingly bad.
