I was all set to buy Starship Troopers the other day. I checked my local PX and they wanted $29! No way! Amazon has it for $19.95.
So I called my local Wal-Mart. They had it for the same price as the PX (plus tax). So I then checked Wal-Mart online. They were selling Starship Troopers for only $18.96. I called back to Wal-Mart and they said they do not price match themselves!?!?!?!!??! Now I can understand not price matching Amazon or Circuit City or such, but themselves?!?! Why would anyone pay over $10 more for a movie from Wal-Mart when you can get the same movie for a way cheaper price at the same company? It is like they are trying to get me to NOT BUY from the Brick & Mortar store. What's the difference to the overall Wal-Mart where I buy it? In the end the money goes to Wal-Mart. Why make the person who actually goes into your store pay more? Not just a buck or two, but over $11 by the time you add in tax. Heck, I will just order from Amazon or order from Wal-Mart online and pick it up at the store (if I can). In the future I will check Wal-Mart online before I make any Blu-ray purchase over $25 from Wal-Mart. |

As for not matching themselves, a lot do that. Target doesn't because Amazon runs their online store so it's Amazon prices. Fry's Electronics doesn't because they're 2 separate entities that run the online and B&M sides. |

Yeah it sucks but what i do if im in desperate need is just buy in store and then order online for site-to-store for cheaper and then when come in take that copy back with the receipt from the higher one that way i get it that price and dont have to wait only if i desperately need it immediately but also want that cheaper price.

True. However, where I live the in-store prices on Blu-rays (at Wal-mart) are LESS than the website. Walmart will always price media (and pretty much everything else) to be just below (like by $.03) most local competition. I live in an area that is fortunate enough to have a MASSIVE store that really pushes prices down. So all the Walmarts in the area match. In areas where there's no competition (or just BB and CC) Walmart's pricing can be just as high as theirs.

That's just plain retarded.
How do you not price match yourself? So your saying, Wal-Mart can sell an HDTV for 500 bucks online, but when you go in store to get one, you have to pay 1000 bucks because they don't price match THEMSELVES. Stupid. Last edited by ADRiiAN`; 08-07-2008 at 03:40 AM. |

Technically they're separate entities. Similarly, Target's website sales are run through Amazon.com... and Target will tell you that they're fine with you never shopping there again before they'll price match Target.com.

I have gotten into the habit of buying new catalogue release wherever I can find them and then ordering them from Walmart.com site to store shipping and then taking that back to the original store. It's kind of a pain in the ass, but the Walmart I use is close to home and I pass it everyday to and from work, so it's not like going out of my way.
Walmart is beginning to pull some real crap moves lately. When Best Buy had 24 seasons for 16.99, I went to Walmart to get season 6 and had them price match and they made a big deal about the price match (their price 49.99). For a store that is built on the reputation and marketing of having the absolute lowest prices, they sure are becoming shiesters! There was a time when my Walmart stores used to look at competitore ads and actually drop prices to a couple cents below the advertised sales. |

I saw Cloverfield on target.com last night for $20. I went down to the store to grab it and it was on the shelf for $35. They refused to price match so I just left. It's $25 at Best Buy right now, so I'm just going to pay $5 extra and just grab it there.

Wal-Mart online price = Best Buy/Circuit City price match.
Let WM keep pricing online lower....I'll keep taking advantage. |

I've been succesfully doing this for quite some time until recently. I went to Best Buy to have them price match Urban Legend to Wal-Mart, and when they looked it up online, it said that the movie is not sold IN Stores. So they say they couldn't price match it. I went to the Wal-Mart website afterwards, and found out that a lot of new catalog releases says "NOT SOLD IN STORES" which means a lot of Best Buy stores WILL NOT price match.......
