Talking Some updates!

We moved into our home about three years ago. We redid everything. So the basement has been a work in progress. Always changing and rearranging. Some new equipment here and there. I always have had free roam to do what I want to the space. I did get once in awhile the "why did you buy that bookcase? It doesnt match the others!" But other than that. Its been all mine.
I hope you enjoy, or get inspired. Who knows. If you have any questions, please feel free to pm me. Or leave a comment. My equipment is listed in my signature. I did my best to put comments under the pictures.

EDIT: Figured out how to put pictures. So you dont have to have a link to my gallery. But Ill leave the links for the older stuff and the iRule screenshots

[Show spoiler]

View From Behind Couch. I know the wall is a little messed up. Still deciding if I want to paint it black. You will see some DIY acoustic panels. There are 5 in the front. 1x2 frames covered in a clearence bed sheet from jo-ann fabrics. The insulation inside was bought through ATS.

[Show spoiler]

A view of my collection.

[Show spoiler]

Another view

[Show spoiler]

A view From the Right Front.

[Show spoiler]

A Long View Of my Collection

[Show spoiler]

A view from the landing. The couch is a little big for the area. But it is so damn comfortable. I dont want to get rid of it. Makes movie marathons much more fun.

[Show spoiler]

Another collection view. This is Bluray.com afterall. You can also see how I covered my fuse box. I used an Ikea medicine cabinet. I took the back and top off. Due to the framing of the basement it doesnt sit flush. So had to get creative. The light sabers were for decoration. But actually are useful as handles.

[Show spoiler]

My figure out which movie Im going to watch chair. I originally was using this for movie watching. But long hours in it got to be uncomfortable. And made it hard for friends to come over.

[Show spoiler]

A view of the left surround. You will see also some DIY acoustic panels. The acoustic insulation was bought from ATS. Then I used 1x2's to make the frame. They are then covered with a spandex type of material. It stretches, but not as much as spandex. And not as shiny. There are a total of 10 in the room.

[Show spoiler]

The girlfriend and I have 2 bulldogs. So for christmas and birthdays our friends get me or her something with a bulldog theme. This was my last christmas gift. I feel it is fitting for a man cave!

I was going to put the pictures in this post. But that would take forever. And I am not all that good at it to begin with. So here are the links to my galleries.

Thanks. There are still some things I would like to do within the next year or so. Still deciding between a really big tv. Or go to projector. The only problem is the HVAC that is splitting the room in half. And its right above the couch.
And looking at some of those pictures. It looks like I went to the J.J. Abrams school of photography.

Billy13, Loving the evolution of your theater and 2 channel stuff. Especially the bird. Wish I had the patience to try all those different types and brands of speakers.

Outstanding Home Theater area and home theater gear.

I can imagine you being totally drawn into any and all movies you would watch.

Thanks talstarone. Glad to see that your Jedi Temple is making a comeback. Been through that myself.
I also have the aura bass shakers attached to the couch. One in each seat under them. Since I had an old subwoofer laying around, it was a pretty low cost project. I will get some pictures of them hope fully this weekend. It takes movies to a whole new dimension.

I think the same way....projector vs tv. I think I'd like a big tv vs projector, but I may be wrong. I just watch more basic tv than movies.

Being that my space is smaller. I look t the ability of having friends over. Even though I do alot of private viewing. I still would like the ability to have friends over. And the way my room is set up, I could see someone tripping over something. But I have been looking into a black screen. Those seem to be able to be seen in alot of different light. But I keep coming back to the t.v. Its a ways away. But it is something I cant stop going back and forth on. first world problems I guess.... LOL

I have similar problems at times.

You mentioned black screen, I haven't even heard of a black screen. Interesting.

Thumbs up Thanks!

I would like to say thanks to those who have commented approval for my little escape. I really like this forum. I have been on others that are full of pretentious aholes. For the most part, this site is a real comfortable place to come to. Its also nice to finally have a discussion with someone. For a long time I felt like the new kid in the class. So thanks to the Moderators and members of this forum for making it a top notch site!

Default Rip man cave

Well the unthinkable happened. We have been having heavy rains in the ann arbor area over the weekend. I checked the sump at 8am and everything was fine. The girlfriend went down at 10am, and the entire basement was ankle deep water. Something had fallen in the sump and blocked the float from moving. As well as this drain type thing that has never given us any problems was now over flowing with ground water. We got out what we could, but the carpet is toast. As well as some drywall. Not too mention the bookcases, couch and god knows whatever else. Im in shock right now. I wanted to do some remodeling. But this wasnt the way I had hoped it went down. And for some reason we only have 10,000 in coverage. Even though when I talked to the agent I wanted more, was told there would be more. But since its not in my name. When it was signed it didnt get checked. So i hope that it isnt more then 10g. Ill keep this updated as I find out more. The drying company is there today. The adjuster comes out tomorrow.

I'm in southeast Michigan and we had the basement flood last year(as did 3 counties). My wife was afraid it was going to happen again, because of all the rain.

Sorry to hear about yours
