Spring Breakers - A-

Captive - C+
Bling Ring - B+
Most Violent Year - C
Locke - B
Spectacular Now - B+

But over all I think they're a great studio. Releasing original films.
I haven't seen as many of their films as you, but those I have seen have been great. It never dawned on me that so many of these films were from the same studio though. I'm going to actively seek out A24's films from now on.

I haven't seen everything they've done, but I've loved what I've seen. I actually liked Life After Beth a lot more than I would have thought. It was fun and goofy. I really liked Obvious Child and Locke too.

Just got out of the theater, and loved it. The audience had a very negative reaction to
[Show spoiler]Ava leaving Caleb in the house- lots of groans. But I've always liked my sci-fi a little depressing.
Just preordered the steelbook!

They should have released The Guest and then maybe that could have gotten a much bigger push . Would have been a great fit with them.

Still haven't seen Enemy.

Was really enjoying this film until I began to experience a feeling of deja vu halfway in, and then I realized why: the basic plot, almost note for note, is exactly the same as The Skin I Live In.

[Show spoiler]A brilliant but mad scientist keeps a beautiful woman, who is essentially his creation and guinea pig, locked up in his home, and watched on surveillance cameras 24/7. She realizes she needs to use her beauty to her advantage and seduce her way out of her prison, and ends by killing the mad scientist, donning a pretty dress, and escaping into the outside world.

I don't know that anybody has claimed it's the most original idea. The captive woman seducing her captor isn't exactly a "new" idea.

But the movie does make important changes,
[Show spoiler]like seducing and unwitting third party when the captor can't be turned.

It was also just an exceptionally well acted, well shot, and overall impeccably executed piece of art.

Enemy is great and subversive. It has a divided audience, but I highly recommend it.

My rankings of the A24 films I've seen:

Ex Machina - 4.5/5
Enemy - 4/5
The Rover - 4/5
Under the Skin - 4/5
The Spectacular Now - 4/5
Spring Breakers - 2/5

And I just blind bought A Most Violent Year today.

It's still a worthwhile film, but once I noticed the similarities, I was disappointed to see the film follow through on those plot points beat by beat, without anything really novel to add to them. Kyoko was the most interesting thing in the film, I thought.

Went to see this for a second time. Insanely good movie. The screenplay is so well written that I'm curious to see what else Alex Garland directs/writes next. He's one of the best Sci-Fi writers working today. Top 10 since The Matrix for me.

My most anticipated movies this Summer:

Mad Max: Fury Road
Tomorrowland
Jurassic World
Terminator: Genisys
Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation

I'll do that.

I just did some looking, and almost all of A24's movies are included on Amazon Prime streaming.

It looks like only Laggies and A Most Violent Year are not free to watch with Amazon Prime.
