PS3 is freezing up - Blu-ray Forum

I have had a PS3 for a year. I watch Blu Ray's, DVD's, and play games almost everyday. When I play something now, it will freeze mid game or in the movie. I have to re start the PS3, but it does it again. Is there something I can do, or is it time to get a new one?

Wipe the disc clean. Clean the PS3 (including mild vacuuming). See if that works.

my PS3 froze up continuously , and was caused by that orange info bar on the top right of the XMB. i turned it off, and problem solved. but i believe my freezes were in the XMB and not in-movie, in-game.

don't get a new one. i think sony will fix it for only 150 dollars or something like that

Make sure it's in a well ventilated area. It might be over heating.
If the high speed fan is kicking in, that might give you some indication.

Maybe put a fan toward it and see if it helps.

yeah if you have a fan around your house just let it sit and blow on the ps3 for awhile then boot it up should be ok then

Mine started to freeze a few months after I got it, had to send it back to Sony and they sent me a brand new one. It had a bad drive

Mine just started freezing once I started playing madden 09. Has anyone else had this problem with Madden by chance. The play would still be going on but the screen would still be on the pick play and you cant get out of it.

that's exactly what happend to my 60gig... power source failed. send it in.

Ok, thank you a lot for the info. What entails...cost? how long will it take? did they fix yours properly? Thank you again...I have no dvd/blu or cd player...sad times...lol
