Default Any one enjoy wearing aftershave?

I do, periodically at least, and especially if I'm going out or dating. Scent is meant to be very important to human attraction after all.

I own lots of different aftershaves of all sorts of smells, some are expensive some are less so and although there is an art to how you are meant to use them, I just generally wear what I want when I want. Even if that means a heavy "going out" scent at work!

Recently picked up two cheap gift sets of two fragrances I used to love wearing when I was younger, Joop! Homme and L'Homme by Yves Saint Laurent. Reliving my glory days, ha.

How about yourselves?

I'd wear some on special occasions, but that's it. I have a bottle of Davidoff's "Cool Water," which I think is good.

There was one time where I was at a pub (a rare occasion for me), and a girl came in. She was somebody I was interested in, asked out, but got turned down and she was with somebody else. Strangely enough though, she kept smelling my neck that whole night, so I guess it's good stuff.

My security guard at my old work swore by Cool Water. He topped himself up with the scent several times a day.

So random! But I only wear it after I actually shave. I'm married with two very young boys. I have no one to impress and I have no social life. Haha

I work in an all male environment in the mill & one of my helpers uses colon / aftershave / perfume or whatever & it sucks Not in someplace you make your impression's by the way you smell. of course he is arrogant / not talented / Thinks he is all that / and is basically an a-hole if you ask me

Just venting about what I have to put up with at work ~ But in a few years when I am plant foreman I will not be around him if he is still there

I have a lot of aftershaves, my favorites are the Pinaud/Clubman aftershaves (My fav Pinauds are Bay Rum and "Vanilla"), I used them like "colognes" for everyday use since they are not as strong as colognes, but leave you smelling nice if someone comes over to say hi/kiss on the cheek/get close; 'old school' smells are not super strong compare to the flowery aftershaves of todays that are really strong for the whole day; the pinauds are strong only in the first half hour or so then they just leave you the smell on the skin for the rest of the day very subtlety so you would need to get close to smell. I don't like to wear perfume/cologne to work since patients might get an allergies from it. I wear perfumes only when I go out to nice places/clubs/parties.

Yeap, I can tell you 80% of females love the old smells. They remind them of their fathers etc… Brains are fun!

Can't you guys just 'bust'/make fun of him wearing heavy scented colognes to an all male environment? Easy one is just ask him what is the brand he uses and then telling him he should lower the dosage haha

To be honest with you, I don't know the difference between a Eau De Toilette, a cologne or a after shave — I know that is like a social failure, but oh well. I guess I don't know what a perfume is either, because I've heard men say they're wearing a perfume and I figured those were for women.

It's lighter than regular cologne, meant for "refreshing" as it's not as powerful/overpowering as regular cologne.

So the differences are in strength? So if something is really strong, it's likely a cologne?

yes and no.

I'm gonna try to make it simple, but know that nowadays lines are more blurred than before; also smells of them changes throughout the day.

Aftershave: Less perfume oil 2% or so so less than Eau de Toilette. Many have things to help with cooling your face after the blades have made their job so you might get Aloe Vera or other soothing ingredients. Then there is the alcohol which can disinfect and help with pores. Smell will not be as strong after 2-3 hrs, some don't smell like anything after a few hours, some linger very softly for the day so when someone is close they can smell it. There are some aftershaves that don't have alcohol, but just soothes.

Eau de Cologne: has 2x has much oil than an aftershave, so they smell much stronger and last longer, prob will not have soothing ingredients, instead more herbal/floral smells. This can last 2x as much in the smell department than aftershave.

Eau de Toilette: has 4x has much oil as an aftershave.

BOTH eau de colognes and toilette are too oily to be put on the face after shaving and will cause your face to be blotchy and red. Also both of them are kinda mix in the mens so you can consider both of them interchangeably.

Eau de Perfume and the strongest of them all Pure Perfume is usually only done for women and they have a lot more oil than cologne and last a long time.

Think of the categories as oil content instead of just watering down pure perfume since some have different ingredients mixed than others. The more oil the more the smell will last. You can also use BOTH an aftershave and one of them, usually from same line or if you like the combo smell.
