Default other ways to mount theater seats?

im planning a home theater as you guys can tell from my previous posts. i want to get movie theater seats, i was looking at these http://cgi.ebay.com/THEATER-CHAIRS-H...QQcmdZViewItem sorry for the long link. anyway, i like these seats because theyre cheap and i can fit more of these seats in my room. well the gf dosnt want to drill holes in our new carpet or floors. so is there anyway i can have these seats without the drilling or do they make other theater seats without drilling? i kinda didnt wanna go the expensive leather recliner route. thanks guys.

If expense is your only objection to the leather seats, I've seen them for $1000 for a 3 seat unit. You'll be real close to that by the time you buy 3 of those. For mounting them you could build a small platform out of plywood and 2x4's then cover in carpet.

I cut strips of 1" X 3" oak, length depending on distance between chair legs, and radiused the edges.
I then finished them with stain and varnish.
These were bolted to the chair legs thru existing holes with carriage bolts.
The base slides easily on the carpet to position the chairs, and you could attach to each other, if desireable, by screwinf brackets between the new skids.
Worked for me!

Why would you mount a theater seat? Are you that lonely?

Sorry, had to be said...

I thought about getting seating like that, but think about sitting in them for an extended period of time and you will probably want to get something else.
This is what the wife and I got for our home theater.

We also bought the matching extra recliner. Much more comfortable than what you're looking at. The price is not bad either and you don't have to worry about how to mount them.
We bought ours at room to go. We put our harmony and wii chargers inside of one wedge and a phone in the other. The ottoman also opens for more storage.

not so much expense, i just wanted to fit like 6-8 chairs. and those leather seats are kinda bulky. but i did some searching and i found Theater Seat Floor Plates from cinema shop. so i think i might go that route.

Those leather ones may seem bulky, but since they are a semicircle they don't take up a lot of room and it can be right against the wall. The recliners slide forward so they don't have to be away from the wall like the old ones did. Also you have storage in the wedges and ottoman and 2 cupholders in each wedge. As far as comfort, they are incredible. I'm all about saving space and the sectional takes up less space than the couches I had. It's up to the individual but I have sat in theater seats before and after a couple of hours they are just plain uncomfortable. You can't stretch out or lay back. Just my 2 cents. I paid about 2,700.00 for the whole setup, the sectional and the extra recliner. That's seating for 5 and every seat has the perfect viewing angle.

I was looking at those floor plates. They seem like they would work good but I think they would still move around on you. At 1,000 for the 3 seats and then 65 per floor plate, I still think you are better off with some real furniture. If you have a rooms to go in your area you should really check out that kind of sectional I posted earlier. The other thing my wife loved about them was they are high back. If you are set on getting the theater seats, cool, but you should check everything out first before you jump in. Once you buy them you may be stuck with them even if you end up not liking them. Just a suggestion.

yea i understand what your saying and i will continue to look around. its just i have a big family and host a lot of parties, thought the theater setas would be better for more chairs and people but ill look into the recliners. i dont mind theater seats, i cant sit in them, but i do want comfort but also room. thanks for your input. so many choices.

yes i have the same seating as obiwop and its a fantastic set, maybe save up some cash and think of getting something like this, as far as room goes we had a sectional before and after getting this set it really opened the room up, those seats your looking at i think would be extremely uncomfortable if your going to watch more than one movie at a time or a gaming session, a friend of mine went that route and he hates that he bought theater seats and is buying something similar to mine, just a thought.
